Enter the VIN of a Lambretta scooter to read what the number says.
Enter the 17-character VIN of a Lambretta and the decoder reads the manufacturer, the model year and the country of manufacture. Our Lambretta data covers 14 scooter models, from the G 350, V200 and V50 to the Uno 150, LN 125 and Pato 50, across model years 2008 to 2025. Engine sizes in the data run from 49 to 330 cc, with a highest power of 26 hp.
The decoder works from the VIN alone, so it says nothing about accidents, mileage, theft entries or previous owners. That information comes from a vehicle history report, and the registration papers and the scooter itself are the other places to check.
A modern VIN has 17 characters, and the letters I, O and Q are never used, so they cannot be mistaken for 1 and 0. The first three characters identify the manufacturer and the country. Characters 4 to 8 describe the machine, and each maker codes them in its own way, which is why a V50 and a G 350 are not read by one shared rule. Character 9 is a check digit, required in North America. Character 10 is the model year, character 11 the assembly plant, and characters 12 to 17 the serial number.
For the model years in our Lambretta data, character 10 runs from the digit 8 for 2008 to the letter S for 2025, with letters used from 2010 onward. On a scooter the VIN is usually stamped into the frame, often near the steering head, and repeated on a plate or sticker. It is also written in the registration papers. Machines built before 1981 can carry a shorter frame number, which a VIN decoder cannot read.
The decoder reads the number. A history report looks for the records tied to it.
Lambretta history reportLook at the frame first, often near the steering head, where the VIN is usually stamped into the metal. It may also be on a plate or sticker, and it is printed in the registration papers.
The first three characters identify the manufacturer and the country where the scooter was made. The decoder turns them into plain words, so you do not need to know the codes.
The model year is the 10th character. In our data the Lambretta model years run from 2008 to 2025, so you would expect the digit 8 for the earliest and a letter for every year from 2010 on.
It cannot show accidents, mileage, theft entries or the number of owners, because none of that is stored in the VIN. It also cannot read the shorter frame numbers found on machines built before 1981.
Compare the VIN on the frame, on the plate and in the registration papers, and make sure they match and show no signs of tampering. Check that the engine size and model name in the papers fit the scooter in front of you, and ask the seller for service records.
