Our Lambretta data covers 14 scooter models from 2008 to 2025, with engine sizes from 49 to 330 cc and up to 26 hp. That is a wide spread of ages, sizes and asking prices, and two scooters that look equally tidy in a listing can have very different pasts. A history check is a way to compare the seller's story with the records before you commit.

The VIN itself only tells you what is encoded in the number, such as the manufacturer, the model year and the serial number, and the Lambretta VIN decoder shows exactly that. Accidents, mileage readings, theft entries and ownership changes are not in the number. They come from a vehicle history report, where records are available.

What a report can show about a used Lambretta

  • Damage and accident records tied to the VIN of the Lambretta
  • Mileage readings recorded over the years
  • Theft and search entries, where such data exists
  • Changes of owner and registration history
  • Technical data of the vehicle
  • Archive photos, where available

Records are shown where available. Coverage may vary by country and vehicle.

What to check before buying a used Lambretta scooter

Start with how much the used market can differ inside one brand. A recent G 350 or X300 and an older Pato 50 or LN 125 are different purchases in age, price and expectations, yet the questions are the same. Has it been in a crash? Do the mileage figures make sense? Is the person selling it really the owner, and is the scooter clear of any theft entry? A scooter is small and light, so a fall or a collision may leave little that is easy to spot. Fresh paint, new body panels and a clean seat can hide a repaired crash.

Mileage and damage are also hard to judge on a short test ride. A V50, a V125 or a V200 may feel fine around the block, but that says little about what happened in the years before. The seller's account and the paperwork can also differ from what the records show. A history report lets you set the stated mileage and the stated number of owners against recorded entries, and a difference is a good reason to ask questions or walk away.

Scooters of one brand are often built and sold in several countries, so the history of a Due, an Uno 150 or an LJ 50 may span borders. Check the VIN on the machine itself, usually stamped into the frame and often near the steering head, and compare it with the plate or sticker and the registration papers. A report covers records, not the current technical condition. Brakes, tyres, the engine and the frame still need a look from a mechanic, and the report does not replace that inspection.

How it works

1

Enter the VIN

Copy it from the advert, the papers or the frame itself.

2

Order the report

You continue on the report page and choose how to pay.

3

Read what the records say

Compare them with the seller's account and decide with the facts in front of you.

The VIN of a Lambretta on its own

The VIN decoder reads the manufacturer code, model year and country of manufacture of a Lambretta. It does not show the history of the bike.

Questions and answers

What can a history report for a Lambretta show?

Depending on what is on record, it can show damage entries, mileage readings, theft entries, ownership changes and technical data. Records are shown where available, and coverage may vary by country and vehicle.

Is the VIN alone enough to know the scooter?

No. The 17 characters tell you the manufacturer, the model year, the plant and the serial number, but they do not contain accidents, mileage, theft entries or owners. Those details can only come from records linked to the VIN.

Should I check the history before visiting the seller?

It is a sensible time to do it. Asking for the VIN before a visit or a deposit lets you compare the records with the listing, and a check costs little next to a wrong purchase. You can still look at the scooter in person afterwards.

What does it mean if records are missing?

It means nothing was found for that vehicle in the sources covered, which can simply reflect gaps in a country or period. It does not prove the scooter is clean or damaged, so ask the seller for service papers and invoices and have the scooter inspected.

How should I treat a Lambretta that was imported or built abroad?

Expect that its history may sit in more than one country, and that records can be patchy between them. Compare the VIN on the frame with the papers, and be careful if the number is shorter than 17 characters, since a decoder cannot read older frame numbers.
