1. Information we collect
We keep our data collection to the minimum necessary. When you use Histovin.com, we may process the following information:
- Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or, in Poland, a license plate number, which you provide in our search form.
- Technical data collected automatically when you visit our website (for example IP address, browser type, operating system and referring website). This is collected via cookies and analytics tools.
We do not require user registration and do not collect payment details on Histovin.com. If you write to us through the contact form, we receive the name, email address and message you enter.
2. How we use information
We use the information you provide solely for the following purposes:
- To forward the VIN or license plate number to our trusted partners (providers of vehicle history reports) in order to generate the requested vehicle history report.
- To answer messages sent through the contact form, using the name and email address you give only for that reply.
- To keep a record of the VINs and license plate numbers submitted in our forms, so we can understand demand, improve the service and avoid repeating paid lookups for the same vehicle.
- To improve our website's functionality and user experience.
- To analyze traffic and performance through tools such as Google Analytics.
- To show, on the page with example VIN numbers, the numbers recently typed into our forms: one hour after it was entered, a VIN may be displayed together with its brand only, with no data about you or your device. To have a number removed, write to info@histovin.com.
- To keep our own visit statistics without cookies: we record the page visited, language, country, device type and referring website, together with an anonymous value that changes every day and cannot identify you or your IP address. We delete these records after 14 months and do not count visitors who send Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signals.
We do not generate or sell reports directly. Reports are always delivered through our partners' platforms.
3. Affiliate links
Histovin.com contains affiliate links. This means that if you click on a link and purchase a service (such as a VIN report) from one of our partners, we may receive a commission at no additional cost to you.
Affiliate partnerships do not affect the impartiality of the information we provide. We always work with trusted, established partners in the vehicle history industry.
4. Sharing of information
To run the website we use service providers who process data on our behalf: hosting (Vercel Inc., USA), database (Supabase, servers in the EU), email delivery for the contact form (Resend, USA) and, only with your consent, analytics (Google Analytics, USA). Where data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, this happens on the basis of an adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses.
We may share your VIN or license plate number only with our trusted partners in order to generate the requested report. We do not share your data with any other third parties.
Technical data collected through analytics may be shared with service providers (for example Google Analytics) to help us understand website usage.
We do not sell, rent or trade your information.
5. Legal basis for processing (GDPR compliance)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), we process your information under the following legal bases:
- Consent: by entering your VIN or license plate and clicking submit, you consent to us forwarding this data to our partners to generate a report.
- Legitimate interest: to maintain and improve our website, keep a record of submitted queries, prevent fraud and ensure security.
6. Data retention
We store the VIN or license plate you submit in our forms, together with the date, the page and language, your country and a hashed (not readable) form of your IP address and browser details. We do not store the reports themselves: they are generated and delivered by our partners. Submitted VINs and license plates are kept for up to 26 months.
Technical and analytics data may be retained for up to 26 months in accordance with standard practices.
7. Cookies
Histovin.com uses cookies and similar technologies to:
- Ensure proper website functionality
- Analyze traffic and usage (Google Analytics)
- Track affiliate referrals
Analytics cookies are used only with your consent, which you can give or decline in the notice shown on your first visit. You may also control cookies through your browser settings. Please note that disabling cookies may limit certain website features.

11. Children's privacy
Histovin.com is not intended for use by individuals under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
