Enter the VIN of a TGB scooter to read what the number says.
Enter the 17-character VIN of a TGB and the decoder returns the manufacturer, the model year and the country of manufacture. It needs no registration and costs nothing. Our TGB data covers 29 models from 2005 to 2023, from the Blade, Bullet and Target to the Hawk, Keywest and Sunset, with engines from 49 to 561 cc and up to 43 hp.
The VIN does not record accidents, mileage, theft entries or previous owners, so the decoder cannot show them. That information comes from a vehicle history report.
A modern VIN has 17 characters, and the letters I, O and Q are never used, so they cannot be mistaken for 1 and 0. Characters 1 to 3 identify the manufacturer and the country. Characters 4 to 8 describe the machine, but each maker codes them in its own way, which is why a decoder that reads only the VIN stays with manufacturer, year and country. Character 9 is a check digit, required in North America. Character 10 is the model year, character 11 the assembly plant, and characters 12 to 17 the serial number. Two TGB scooters from different years, say one from 2005 and one from 2023, would differ at character 10, and a 49 cc model and a 561 cc one would differ in the block describing the machine.
On a scooter the VIN is usually stamped into the frame, often near the steering head, and repeated on a plate or sticker. It is also printed in the registration papers, which is the easiest place to start. Vehicles built since 1981 carry 17-character VINs, so that is what you would expect on any TGB from our 2005 to 2023 range, whether it is a Bellavita, an X Motion or a Delivery. A much older machine can have a shorter frame number, and a VIN decoder cannot read those.
The decoder reads the number. A history report looks for the records tied to it.
TGB history reportLook at the frame first, often near the steering head, and for a plate or sticker that repeats it. The same number is printed in the registration papers, so you can compare the two.
The first three characters identify the manufacturer and the country where it was built. The next five describe the machine, and each maker codes them differently.
The model year is the 10th character of the VIN, and the decoder reads it for you. Our TGB data runs from 2005 to 2023, so a result outside that range is worth a second look at the number you typed.
It reads only the VIN, so it gives the manufacturer, model year and country of manufacture. Accidents, mileage, theft entries and owners are not stored in the VIN.
Make sure the VIN on the frame matches the plate and the registration papers, and that all 17 characters are legible and look untouched. Then decode it and compare the model year with what the seller tells you.
