Enter the VIN of a Malaguti scooter to read what the number says.
This free decoder reads the 17-character VIN of a Malaguti and returns the manufacturer, the model year and the country of manufacture. Our catalogue holds 36 Malaguti models, from the newer Drakon 125, Dune 125 and Madison 300 back to the Ciak 50, Ciak 125 and Ciak 150, with model years from 1987 to 2025. Engine sizes in the data run from 49 to 493 cc, and the highest power listed is 40 hp.
The VIN does not contain accidents, mileage, theft entries or previous owners. That information comes from a vehicle history report. No registration is needed to use the decoder.

A VIN has 17 characters, and the letters I, O and Q are never used, so they cannot be mistaken for 1 and 0. Characters 1 to 3 identify the manufacturer and the country. Characters 4 to 8 describe the machine, but each maker codes them in its own way, so they are not the same across brands. Character 9 is a check digit, required in North America. Character 10 gives the model year, character 11 the assembly plant, and characters 12 to 17 are the serial number. For a Malaguti, the model year you read should fall somewhere between 1987 and 2025 to match our data.
On a scooter the VIN is usually stamped into the frame, often near the steering head, and it is also printed on a plate or sticker. You will find it in the registration papers as well. Since 17-character VINs apply to vehicles built since 1981, an older machine can carry a shorter frame number that a VIN decoder cannot read. The VIN also does not tell you whether you are looking at a Madison 125 or a Madison 250, or whether a 50 cc model such as the Ciak 50 or Firefox 50 has been changed. For that, compare the papers and the machine itself.
The decoder reads the number. A history report looks for the records tied to it.
Malaguti history reportLook at the frame first, often near the steering head, where the VIN is usually stamped. It may also be on a plate or sticker, and it is written in the registration papers.
Characters 1 to 3 form the manufacturer and country code. They show who built the machine and where, but nothing about the model, such as a Centro 125 or a Centro 160.
The 10th character of the VIN stands for the model year. Enter the full 17 characters in the decoder and it reads that character for you.
It cannot show accidents, mileage, theft entries or owners, because none of these are stored in the VIN. It also cannot read frame numbers shorter than 17 characters, which can occur on older machines.
Compare the VIN on the frame with the one on the plate and in the papers, and check that the model year fits the machine. Make sure the engine size matches the model name, since the data covers machines from 49 cc to 493 cc.
