Enter the VIN of a Vento scooter to read what the number says.
This free decoder reads the 17-character VIN of a Vento scooter and shows the manufacturer, the model year and the country of manufacture. Our data covers 11 Vento models from 2006 to 2017, starting with the newest, Energy, and including Hot Rod, Phantom, Street Rod, Urban GT, Viking 200, Triton, V-Thunder, Zip, Colt and Phantera. Engine sizes in the data run from 49 to 249 cc, and no registration is needed.
The VIN does not contain accidents, mileage, theft entries or previous owners. That information comes from a vehicle history report.
A VIN has 17 characters, and the letters I, O and Q are never used. The first three characters identify the manufacturer and the country. Characters 4 to 8 describe the machine, but each maker codes them in its own way, so they cannot be read the same way on every brand. Character 9 is a check digit, which is required in North America. Character 10 gives the model year, character 11 the assembly plant, and characters 12 to 17 are the serial number.
For a Vento, the tenth character is the one to look at first. The models in our data span 2006 to 2017, so it should be a digit or letter that fits that range, for example 6 for 2006 or A for 2010. This matters when you compare an Energy, a Viking 200 or a Zip with a listing. The data mixes 49 cc scooters with larger machines of up to 249 cc and 24 hp, so the model year in the advert is worth checking against the VIN. On a scooter the VIN is usually stamped into the frame, often near the steering head, and repeated on a plate or sticker. It is also printed in the registration papers. Every model year in our data is later than 1981, so a 17-character VIN is what you should find. A shorter frame number cannot be read by a VIN decoder.
The decoder reads the number. A history report looks for the records tied to it.
Vento history reportLook at the frame first, often near the steering head, where the VIN is usually stamped. It may also be on a plate or sticker, and it is written in the registration papers.
The first three characters identify the manufacturer and the country where it was built. Characters 4 to 8 describe the machine, and each maker codes them differently.
The tenth character of the VIN is the model year. Vento models in our data run from 2006 to 2017, so the character should match a year in that range. The decoder translates it for you.
It reads only the VIN, so it shows the manufacturer, the model year and the country of manufacture. Mileage, accidents, theft entries and owners are not stored in a VIN, and neither is the condition of the scooter.
Compare the VIN on the frame, on the plate and in the papers, and make sure all three match and the stamping looks untouched. Check that the model year from the VIN fits the advert, and that the model and engine size, anywhere from 49 to 249 cc in our data, match what is offered.
