Enter the VIN of a Kreidler scooter to read what the number says.
Enter the 17-character VIN of a Kreidler and the decoder shows the manufacturer, the model year and the country of manufacture. It is free and needs no registration. Our Kreidler data covers 23 models from 1967 to 2019, from the Florett 50 and Flory to the Dice 125 and the E-Florett, with engine sizes from 49 to 250 cc.
The decoder reads only the VIN itself, so accidents, mileage, theft entries and previous owners do not appear in the result. That information comes from a vehicle history report.
A VIN has 17 characters, and the letters I, O and Q are never used. The first three identify the manufacturer and the country, characters 4 to 8 describe the machine in a code each maker sets for itself, and character 9 is a check digit that North America requires. Character 10 gives the model year, character 11 the assembly plant, and characters 12 to 17 are the serial number. Because the middle block is maker-specific, it is not a safe way to tell a Florett 50 from a Florett 125 or a Mustang 50 from a Mustang 250. Use the papers and the machine itself for that.
On a scooter or motorcycle the VIN is usually stamped into the frame, often near the steering head, and repeated on a plate or sticker. It is also written in the registration papers, so you can compare all three. A 17-character VIN applies to vehicles built since 1981. Our Kreidler data starts in 1967, so an older machine may carry a shorter frame number that the decoder cannot read, while later ones such as an Insignio 250 or a Dice 125 are the kind of model year range where a full VIN is what you would look for.
The decoder reads the number. A history report looks for the records tied to it.

The first three characters identify the manufacturer and the country where the vehicle was built. The decoder turns them into plain text for you, so you do not need to know the codes.
The tenth character stands for the model year, and the decoder translates it for you. Our Kreidler data covers model years 1967 to 2019, but only machines with a 17-character VIN can be decoded.
It cannot show accidents, mileage, theft entries or owners, because none of that is stored in the VIN. It also cannot read short frame numbers found on older machines.
Compare the VIN on the frame, the plate and the papers, and look for signs that the stamped number has been altered. Check that the engine size and model name in the papers match the machine in front of you, and ask for service records.
