Enter the VIN of a Suzuki motorcycle to read what the number says.
The Suzuki VIN decoder reads the 17-character VIN and shows the manufacturer, the model year and the country of manufacture. It is free and needs no registration. Our data covers 605 Suzuki motorcycle models from 1971 to the present, from small scooters like the Address and Burgman 125 to cruisers such as the Boulevard M109 and sport bikes like the GSX-R 1000R, with engines from 37 to 1786 cc.
The VIN itself does not contain accidents, mileage, theft entries or previous owners. That information comes from a vehicle history report, which is a separate paid service.

A modern VIN has 17 characters and never uses the letters I, O or Q. The first three identify the manufacturer and the country where the machine was built. Characters 4 to 8 describe the machine itself, but each maker codes them in its own way, so they cannot be read the same way on every brand. The 9th is a check digit, required in North America. The 10th gives the model year, the 11th the assembly plant, and characters 12 to 17 are the serial number. So the VIN of a recent DR-Z4S, GSX-8T or GSX-S 1000 will show its model year in the 10th position, while the earlier characters point to Suzuki and the country of manufacture.
On a motorcycle the VIN is usually stamped into the frame, often near the steering head, and repeated on a plate or sticker. You will also find it in the registration papers. Seventeen-character VINs apply to vehicles built since 1981. Suzuki models from the early part of our 1971 to present range can carry shorter frame numbers, and a VIN decoder cannot read those.
The decoder reads the number. A history report looks for the records tied to it.

Characters 1 to 3 identify the manufacturer and the country where the motorcycle was built. The decoder uses them to show the maker and the country of manufacture.
The 10th character of a 17-character VIN stands for the model year. Enter the full VIN in the decoder and it shows the year for you.
It reads only the VIN, so it gives the manufacturer, model year and country of manufacture. Accidents, mileage, theft entries and owners are not stored in the VIN, and the decoder cannot show them.
Compare the VIN stamped in the frame with the one on the plate and in the registration papers, and make sure it is legible and matches. Check that the model year from the decoder fits the machine and the seller's description, and ask to see service records.
