Enter the VIN of a MV Agusta motorcycle to read what the number says.
Enter the 17-character VIN of an MV Agusta motorcycle and the decoder reads the manufacturer, the model year and the country of manufacture. Our data holds 141 MV Agusta models from model year 1978 to the present, since some are still built. They run from the Brutale 800 and F3 800 to the Superveloce, Dragster and Lucky Explorer 9.5.
The VIN does not say whether a bike has been crashed, how far it has travelled, whether it was reported stolen or who owned it. That information comes from a vehicle history report. For anything the VIN cannot tell you, the registration papers and the bike itself are the next places to look.

A VIN has 17 characters, and the letters I, O and Q are never used. Characters 1 to 3 identify the manufacturer and the country. Characters 4 to 8 describe the machine, and each maker codes them in its own way, so the decoder cannot turn them into a full spec sheet. Character 9 is a check digit, required in North America. Character 10 is the model year, character 11 the assembly plant, and characters 12 to 17 the serial number.
On a motorcycle the VIN is usually stamped into the frame, often near the steering head, and repeated on a plate or sticker. It is also written in the registration papers. Our MV Agusta data starts at model year 1978, but 17-character VINs apply to vehicles built since 1981. A machine from the earliest years may therefore carry a shorter frame number that a VIN decoder cannot read. For newer bikes, such as a Brutale 1000RR, an F3 800 or a Superveloce 800, the full 17 characters should be present.
The decoder reads the number. A history report looks for the records tied to it.

Characters 1 to 3 identify the manufacturer and the country where the vehicle was built. The decoder uses them to show who made the machine and where.
The 10th character encodes the model year. Our MV Agusta data covers 1978 to the present, but only vehicles built since 1981 have 17-character VINs. For older machines, check the frame number against the papers.
It reads only the VIN, so it gives the manufacturer, model year and country of manufacture. Accidents, mileage, theft entries and previous owners are not stored in the VIN.
Compare the VIN on the frame with the one on the plate and in the registration papers, and make sure it has 17 characters without I, O or Q. Also check that the model name in the advert matches the papers. The data has many close variants, for example the Brutale 1000RR and Brutale 1000RS, or the Superveloce 800 and Superveloce 1000 Serie Oro.
