Enter the VIN of a Bimota motorcycle to read what the number says.
Enter the 17-character VIN of a Bimota motorcycle and the decoder reads the manufacturer, the model year and the country of manufacture. Our data covers 108 Bimota models from 1979 to 2025, from the KB 998 Rimini, KB4 and Tesi H2 to the DB5, DB6 and BM10 B.Motard. Most of them are sport bikes (15 types), alongside naked bikes (5), super motard (3) and enduro / offroad (1), with engine sizes from 2 to 1198 cc and a highest power of 231 hp.
The decoder reads the VIN and nothing else, so it cannot tell you about accidents, mileage, theft entries or previous owners. That information comes from a vehicle history report. The decoder itself is free and needs no registration.

A modern VIN has 17 characters, and the letters I, O and Q are never used. The first three identify the manufacturer and the country, characters 4 to 8 describe the machine in a code each maker chooses for itself, and character 9 is a check digit that North America requires. Character 10 is the model year, character 11 the assembly plant, and characters 12 to 17 the serial number. For a Bimota, the year character will point to somewhere between 1979 and 2025, the span of our data, whether the bike is a DB5, a DB8 Biposto, a Tesi 3D or a BX450.
On a motorcycle the VIN is usually stamped into the frame, often near the steering head, and repeated on a plate or sticker. You will also find it in the registration papers. Since 17-character VINs apply to vehicles built from 1981, the earliest Bimota machines in our range, from 1979 and 1980, may carry shorter frame numbers that a VIN decoder cannot read.
The decoder reads the number. A history report looks for the records tied to it.
Bimota history reportLook at the frame, often near the steering head, and for a plate or sticker with the same number. It is also printed in the registration papers, so you can check the bike against the documents.
The first three characters identify the manufacturer and the country where it was built. Characters 4 to 8 then describe the machine, and each maker codes them in its own way.
The 10th character of a 17-character VIN stands for the model year, and the decoder translates it for you. Our Bimota data runs from 1979 to 2025, but a bike with an older, shorter frame number cannot be decoded this way.
It cannot show accidents, mileage, theft entries or owners, because none of that is stored in the VIN. It also says nothing about the condition of a particular bike.
Compare the VIN on the frame with the plate and the registration papers, and make sure they match. Then check that the model name, model year and engine size in the papers fit the bike in front of you, for example a DB6 or a KB4.
