Enter the VIN of a Sherco motorcycle to read what the number says.
Enter the 17-character VIN of a Sherco motorcycle and the decoder shows the manufacturer, the model year and the country of manufacture. Our data covers 46 Sherco models from 2001 to 2025, from the E-KID Enduro and SM 50 up to the SE 510 and SCF 500, with engine sizes from 49 to 510 cc. Most of them are enduro or offroad machines (27), followed by trial bikes (13), super motard (4) and cross (2).
The decoder reads the VIN only, so it cannot tell you about accidents, mileage, theft entries or previous owners. That information comes from a vehicle history report, which is a separate, paid service. The decoder itself is free and needs no registration.

A VIN has 17 characters, and the letters I, O and Q are never used. Characters 1 to 3 identify the manufacturer and the country. Characters 4 to 8 describe the machine, but each maker codes them in its own way, so they do not translate neatly into a model name such as SE 300, ST 250 or Trial 290. Character 9 is a check digit, required in North America. Character 10 gives the model year, which for the Sherco machines in our data means somewhere between 2001 and 2025. Character 11 stands for the assembly plant, and characters 12 to 17 are the serial number.
On a motorcycle the VIN is usually stamped into the frame, often near the steering head, and it may also be on a plate or sticker. You will find it in the registration papers too, so compare the two. Since 17-character VINs apply to vehicles built since 1981, a Sherco from 2001 or later should carry one, while a much older machine of any make may have a shorter frame number that a VIN decoder cannot read.
The decoder reads the number. A history report looks for the records tied to it.

The first three characters identify the manufacturer and the country where the motorcycle was built. The characters after them describe the machine in a code that each maker defines for itself.
The model year is the 10th character of the VIN, and the decoder reads it for you. Our Sherco data runs from 2001 to 2025, so the result should fall within that range.
It shows only what is coded in the VIN: manufacturer, model year and country of manufacture. Accidents, mileage, theft entries and owners are not part of the VIN at all.
Check that the VIN on the frame matches the registration papers and that the stamping looks untouched. Ask how the machine was used, since an enduro or trial bike can have been ridden quite differently from a road bike, and ask for any service records the seller has.
