Enter the VIN of a Gilera motorcycle to read what the number says.
Enter the 17-character VIN of a Gilera motorcycle and the decoder shows the manufacturer, the model year and the country of manufacture. Our data covers 69 Gilera models with model years from 1947 to 2021, from the Fuoco and Runner 125 to the Apache, Saturno 500 and MX-R 125 Endurance. The range runs from 49 cc to 839 cc, with a highest power figure of 116 hp, and includes scooters (11), enduro / offroad machines (5), super motard (2) and naked bikes (2).
The decoder reads the VIN only, so it does not show accidents, mileage, theft entries or previous owners. That information comes from a vehicle history report.

A modern VIN has 17 characters, and the letters I, O and Q are never used. The first three identify the manufacturer and the country, the fourth to eighth describe the machine in a code each maker chooses, and the ninth is a check digit that North America requires. The tenth character is the model year, the eleventh the assembly plant, and the last six are the serial number. This is how the decoder arrives at the maker, the year and the country, for example for a Runner 125, a Nexus 300 or a DNA 50.
On a motorcycle the VIN is usually stamped into the frame, often near the steering head, and repeated on a plate or sticker. It is also in the registration papers, so you can compare the two. Keep in mind that 17-character VINs apply to vehicles built since 1981. Our Gilera data starts in 1947, so older machines can carry shorter frame numbers that a VIN decoder cannot read.
The decoder reads the number. A history report looks for the records tied to it.
Gilera history reportLook at the frame, often near the steering head, where it is usually stamped into the metal. It may also be printed on a plate or sticker, and it appears in the registration papers.
The first three characters identify the manufacturer and the country where the machine was built. The next characters describe the machine itself, in a code that each maker defines in its own way.
On a 17-character VIN the tenth character stands for the model year, and the decoder reads it for you. Our Gilera data covers model years from 1947 to 2021, but machines built before 1981 may have a shorter frame number that cannot be decoded.
A VIN does not contain accidents, mileage, theft entries or owners, so the decoder cannot show them. It gives the manufacturer, model year and country of manufacture, nothing more.
Compare the VIN on the frame with the one on the plate and in the registration papers, and look for signs of tampering at the stamping. Then check that the model, year and engine size in the advert, for instance a 50 cc or a 125 cc version, match the papers.
