Enter the VIN of a Derbi motorcycle to read what the number says.
The Derbi decoder reads the 17-character VIN and shows the manufacturer, the model year and the country of manufacture. Our Derbi data covers 41 models from model years 2003 to 2021, from the Senda DRD 50 SM and Senda X-Treme 50 R to the Rambla 300 and the Mulhacen 659. Engine sizes in the data run from 49 to 660 cc, the highest power is 23 hp, and the main types are scooter (14), enduro / offroad (9), super motard (7) and sport (3).
The decoder does not show accidents, mileage, theft entries or previous owners, because none of that is stored in a VIN. That information comes from a vehicle history report, which is the place to look once you have a specific bike in mind.

A VIN has 17 characters, and the letters I, O and Q are not used. The first three identify the manufacturer and the country, and the decoder turns them into the manufacturer and country of manufacture. Characters 4 to 8 describe the machine, but each maker codes them in its own way, so they are not read here as engine size or trim. Character 9 is a check digit, which is required in North America. Character 10 is the model year, and for a Derbi it should point to a year between 2003 and 2021, the span covered by our data. Character 11 marks the assembly plant, and characters 12 to 17 are the serial number.
On a motorcycle the VIN is usually stamped into the frame, often near the steering head, and repeated on a plate or sticker. You will also find it in the registration papers, so compare all of them. The 17-character format applies to vehicles built since 1981, and older machines can carry shorter frame numbers that a VIN decoder cannot read. Whether you are looking at a Senda Baja R, a Rambla 125 or a GPR 50, the steps are the same: find the number, copy all 17 characters and check that the frame and the papers match.
The decoder reads the number. A history report looks for the records tied to it.
Derbi history reportLook at the frame, often near the steering head, where the number is usually stamped. It may also be printed on a plate or sticker, and it is written in the registration papers.
The first three characters identify the manufacturer and the country where the machine was built. The decoder reads them and shows both.
The 10th character of the VIN is the model year code, and the decoder translates it for you. For Derbi, our data covers model years 2003 to 2021.
It shows only the manufacturer, model year and country of manufacture. Accidents, mileage, theft entries and owners are not part of the VIN, so the decoder cannot tell you about them.
Compare the VIN on the frame with the plate and the registration papers, and make sure it has 17 characters if the bike is newer than 1981. Then check that the model year from the decoder fits the bike and the seller's description.
