Our Linhai data covers 12 scooter models, from the Aeolus 260 and Aeolus 300 down to the Drive In 125, Eggy and Prince, with model years from 2003 to 2023 and engines from 49 to 352 cc. That is a wide spread of ages, sizes and prices, and two scooters with the same badge can have very different pasts.

A VIN-based check can settle whether records exist for damage, mileage readings, theft entries and ownership changes, where available. It cannot tell you how the scooter runs today. The Linhai VIN decoder shows what is encoded in the number itself, such as the model year and the manufacturer, but accidents, mileage and owners are not stored in the VIN and only come from a history report.

What a report can show about a used Linhai

  • Damage and accident records tied to the VIN of the Linhai
  • Mileage readings recorded over the years
  • Theft and search entries, where such data exists
  • Changes of owner and registration history
  • Technical data of the vehicle
  • Archive photos, where available

Records are shown where available. Coverage may vary by country and vehicle.

What to check before buying a used Linhai scooter

A test ride and a few photos tell you less than you might hope. Damage and mileage are hard to judge by eye, and a clean-looking bike can hide a repaired crash. A scooter with plastic panels that look fresh may simply have been refitted. The seller's account and the papers in your hand can also differ from what is on record, whether through a mistake, a vague memory or something less innocent.

The range itself is part of the problem. A 49 cc machine and a 352 cc one are different purchases, and a 2003 scooter sits in a different place on the used market than a 2023 one. Within the 12 models, from the Quattrocento and Monarch to the Aeolus 300 or Drive In 150, the asking price tells you little about the history. Models such as the Aeolus 260 and Drive In 125 may be offered side by side by the same seller, and a record check lets you compare them on the same footing. Power tops out at 19 hp in our data, but a modest engine does not mean a modest history.

Start with the VIN. Modern ones have 17 characters, apply to vehicles built since 1981, and never use the letters I, O or Q. On a scooter you will usually find it stamped into the frame, often near the steering head, and printed on a plate or sticker. It is also in the registration papers. Compare these places before anything else. If they do not match, or the number is shorter because the machine is older, you have learned something important before spending more time or money. Scooters of one brand are often built and sold in many countries, so the history may cross borders, and coverage may vary by country and vehicle. A report is a check of records, not of the engine, brakes or frame, so it does not replace a look by a mechanic.

The VIN of a Linhai on its own

The VIN decoder reads the manufacturer code, model year and country of manufacture of a Linhai. It does not show the history of the bike.

Questions and answers

What can a history report for a Linhai scooter show?

Where records are available, it can show damage entries, mileage readings, theft entries, ownership changes and technical data. What appears depends on the country and the vehicle.

Is the VIN alone enough to know the vehicle?

No. The VIN identifies the manufacturer, describes the machine and gives the model year and serial number, but it holds no accidents, mileage, thefts or owners. Those come from a history report.

Should I check before visiting the seller?

It makes sense to, and also before paying a deposit. Asking the seller for the VIN and checking it first costs little next to a wrong purchase, and it gives you something concrete to compare with what you are told on site.

What does it mean if records are missing?

It means nothing was found in the available sources, which is not the same as a clean history. Coverage varies, so treat gaps as a reason to ask the seller more questions and to have the scooter inspected.

How should I treat a Linhai that was imported or built abroad?

Expect that its records may sit in more than one country, and that coverage may differ between them. Check that the VIN on the frame, the plate and the registration papers all match, and ask the seller where the scooter has been registered.
