Enter the VIN of the Peugeot scooter you are thinking of buying and check what its records say.
Our data on Peugeot scooters covers 43 models, from the Kisbee 50 and Metropolis to the Geopolis 400 and Satelis 250, with model years from 2001 to 2025 and engine sizes from 49 to 493 cc. On a market that wide, two scooters that look alike on a forecourt can have very different pasts. A history check lets you compare what the seller tells you with what the records show.
The VIN itself only tells you what the machine was when it was built, and the Peugeot VIN decoder shows what is encoded in the number. Damage, mileage readings, theft entries and ownership changes are not in the number, they come from a vehicle history report. Records are shown where available, and coverage may vary by country and vehicle.

Start with how much the used offer can differ. A Django 50 or Vivacity 50 and a Geopolis 250 or Satelis 250 are very different machines, and the range runs over more than twenty model years. Age, price and expected use all vary, so a mileage figure or a price that looks plausible for one model can be odd for another. Most of the types in our data are scooters (38 of the 43 models), but there are also three enduro / offroad models, one super motard and one sport, so it is worth asking what kind of use a particular bike has seen.
A test ride and a handful of photos tell you little about damage or true mileage. A scooter that looks clean can have been repaired after a crash, and a dashboard reading is only one number from one source. The seller's account and the paperwork can also differ from the records, whether by mistake or not. Check that the VIN stamped into the frame, often near the steering head, matches the plate or sticker and the registration papers, then look at what the history says about that same number.
Be clear about the limits. A history report covers records, not the current technical condition, so it does not replace an inspection by a mechanic. What it does is let you rule out some bad purchases early. A check before a visit or a deposit costs little next to buying the wrong scooter.
Copy it from the advert, the papers or the frame itself.
You continue on the report page and choose how to pay.
Compare them with the seller's account and decide with the facts in front of you.
The VIN decoder reads the manufacturer code, model year and country of manufacture of a Peugeot. It does not show the history of the bike.

Where records exist, it can show damage entries, mileage readings, theft entries, ownership changes and technical data. Which of these appear depends on the country and the vehicle.
No. The 17 characters identify the manufacturer, describe the machine, give the model year and carry the serial number, but they do not contain accidents, mileage, theft entries or owners. Those only come from a history report.
It makes sense, because you can compare the records with the advert before you travel or pay a deposit. If something does not match, you can ask about it first or skip the visit.
It means nothing was found in the sources available for that vehicle, which can happen depending on the country and the machine. It is not proof that nothing happened, so ask the seller for service papers and have the scooter inspected.
Scooters of one brand are often built and sold in many countries, so the history can span borders and some records may sit in another country. Check that the VIN matches the import and registration papers, and keep in mind that coverage may vary by country.
