Enter the VIN of the Husqvarna motorcycle you are thinking of buying and check what its records say.
A used Husqvarna can be a small-engine bike from the TC 50 or TC 65 end of the range or a Norden 901 Expedition, and the history behind each can differ a great deal. Our data covers 126 models from 1980 to the present, with engines from 49 to 898 cc and up to 105 hp. With a spread like that, the seller's description tells you only part of the story.
A VIN-based check settles which machine you are actually looking at and what its records say. The Husqvarna VIN decoder shows what is encoded in the number itself, such as the model year and the plant. Damage, mileage readings, theft entries and ownership changes are not in the number. They come from a vehicle history report, where records are available.
Records are shown where available. Coverage may vary by country and vehicle.
Start with what the bike is. The range in our data runs from the TC 50 and TC 85 through the FC 250, FC 350 and FC 450 and the FE 501, up to the Svartpilen 801 SE, Vitpilen 801 and Norden 901. Most entries are enduro or offroad machines (38), followed by super motard (16) and cross or motocross (14), plus a few minibike and cross entries. A ten-year-old TE 250 and a recent Svartpilen 401 will be priced and used very differently, so the same asking price can be reasonable for one and doubtful for the other.
Then look at what you cannot judge yourself. Mileage and crash damage are hard to read from a test ride and a handful of photos. A bike that looks clean can have been repaired after a fall, and a seller may honestly not know what the previous owner did. Compare what the seller tells you and what the registration papers say with the records. Differences are worth a question before you travel to see the bike or pay a deposit.
Age matters for the VIN itself. Machines built since 1981 carry a 17-character VIN, and the number is usually stamped into the frame near the steering head and repeated on a plate or sticker. Among models from 1980 and the early years afterwards, you may find a shorter frame number that a decoder cannot read, so check the number on the bike against the papers carefully. A history report covers records only. It does not tell you the current condition of the engine, suspension or frame, so a mechanic's inspection is still worth having.
Copy it from the advert, the papers or the frame itself.
You continue on the report page and choose how to pay.
Compare them with the seller's account and decide with the facts in front of you.
The VIN decoder reads the manufacturer code, model year and country of manufacture of a Husqvarna. It does not show the history of the bike.

Depending on the vehicle and the country, it can show damage records, mileage readings, theft entries, ownership changes and technical data. Records are shown where available, and coverage may vary by country and vehicle.
No. The VIN identifies the manufacturer, the machine and the model year, but it does not contain accidents, mileage, theft entries or owners. Those come from a history report. On older machines the frame number may also be shorter than 17 characters and not readable by a decoder.
It makes sense to. A check before a visit or a deposit costs little next to a wrong purchase, and it lets you ask about anything odd before you travel. Ask the seller for the VIN first, then compare it with the number on the frame and in the papers when you see the bike.
Missing records are not proof that nothing happened. They may mean the bike has a clean past, or that events were never recorded or are not covered in that country. Treat gaps as a reason to ask the seller more questions and to have the bike inspected.
Motorcycles of one brand are often built and sold in many countries, so the history can span borders and the records may be spread out. Check that the VIN on the frame matches the import and registration papers, and keep in mind that coverage may differ from country to country.
