The Zotye VIN decoder reads the 17-character VIN and shows the manufacturer, the model year and the country of manufacture. Our data for the brand covers 7 models, among them the E200, T300, T600, T700, Z100, Z300/Z360 and Z560, with model years from 2013 to 2017. The body styles in that data are Hatchback, Coupe and Sedan, and the highest power we have on record is 190 hp.
A VIN does not contain accidents, mileage, theft records or previous owners, so the decoder cannot show them. That information comes from a paid vehicle history report.
A VIN has 17 characters, and the letters I, O and Q are never used. The first three characters are the WMI, which identifies the manufacturer and the country. For Zotye we currently have no WMI codes on file, so there is no code or country to list here. Our list is not complete, and the codes we do recognise are simply the ones we can name for the brand.
Characters 4 to 8 are the descriptor, and character 9 is the check digit. North America requires it, while many European VINs fill that position differently. The tenth character is the model year. For the years in our Zotye data the letters run D for 2013, E for 2014, F for 2015, G for 2016 and H for 2017, so a VIN with an H in tenth position points to 2017. Character 11 is the plant, and characters 12 to 17 are the serial number.
Every VIN has six parts. This is what each of them means.
| Part | Characters | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| WMI | 1 to 3 | World manufacturer identifier: who built the vehicle and where |
| VDS | 4 to 8 | Vehicle descriptor: model, body type and engine, as set by the manufacturer |
| Check digit | 9 | Control value that helps confirm the VIN is valid |
| Model year | 10 | Code for the model year |
| Plant | 11 | Code for the assembly plant |
| Serial | 12 to 17 | Production sequence number of this vehicle |
On the driver's side, visible through the windshield.

Printed in the vehicle registration or title.
Stamped on the firewall or the frame on many models.
A VIN is built from six parts, and each one says something about the vehicle. Our guides explain how to read it and what it can and cannot tell you.

The VIN is printed on the vehicle and in its registration papers. The exact spot on the car varies, so the registration document is the easiest place to start. Copy all 17 characters exactly, and remember that I, O and Q do not appear.
The first three characters are the WMI, which identifies the manufacturer and country. We have no WMI codes on file for Zotye yet, and our list is not complete, so a VIN that starts differently is not a reason for concern.
Look at the tenth character. In our Zotye data, which covers 2013 to 2017, D means 2013, E 2014, F 2015, G 2016 and H 2017. The decoder reads this character for you.
It cannot show accidents, mileage, theft or the number of owners, because none of that is stored in the VIN. It also does not give the trim, equipment or condition of a particular car.
Make sure the VIN on the car matches the one in the documents, character by character. Then check that the tenth character fits the model year the seller states. Ask for service records and look at the car in person.
