Enter a 17-character VIN and the Zeekr decoder shows the manufacturer, the model year and the country of manufacture. Our data for the brand covers four models, for example 001, 007, 009 and X, with model years from 2023 to 2025 and two body styles, Sedan and SUV. The decoder is free and needs no registration.
A VIN does not contain accidents, mileage, theft records or previous owners, so the decoder cannot show them. That information comes from a paid vehicle history report.
Every VIN has 17 characters, and the letters I, O and Q are never used. The first three characters are the WMI, the code that identifies the manufacturer and the country of manufacture. At the moment we have no WMI codes mapped to Zeekr, so there is no list of codes or countries to show here.
The tenth character is the model year. For the years in our Zeekr data this means P for 2023, R for 2024 and S for 2025. So a Zeekr VIN with an R in tenth position points to model year 2024.
Characters 4 to 8 describe the vehicle, character 9 is the check digit, character 11 marks the plant and characters 12 to 17 are the serial number. The check digit is required in North America, while many European VINs fill that position differently.
Every VIN has six parts. This is what each of them means.
| Part | Characters | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| WMI | 1 to 3 | World manufacturer identifier: who built the vehicle and where |
| VDS | 4 to 8 | Vehicle descriptor: model, body type and engine, as set by the manufacturer |
| Check digit | 9 | Control value that helps confirm the VIN is valid |
| Model year | 10 | Code for the model year |
| Plant | 11 | Code for the assembly plant |
| Serial | 12 to 17 | Production sequence number of this vehicle |
On the driver's side, visible through the windshield.
On a sticker on the door frame or the edge of the door.
Printed in the vehicle registration or title.
Stamped on the firewall or the frame on many models.
A VIN is built from six parts, and each one says something about the vehicle. Our guides explain how to read it and what it can and cannot tell you.
Enter the 17-character VIN and see the factory basics in seconds.
It is usually printed at the base of the windscreen on the driver's side and on a plate or sticker in the door frame. It also appears in the registration papers.
The first three characters are the WMI, which identifies the manufacturer and country. We have no WMI codes mapped to Zeekr yet, and our list is not complete, so the decoder may have less to show for the first characters.
Look at the tenth character. Within our Zeekr data, P stands for 2023, R for 2024 and S for 2025.
It reads only the VIN itself, so it cannot tell you about accidents, mileage, theft or owners. None of that is stored in the 17 characters.
Compare the VIN on the car with the one in the papers, and check that the tenth character fits the model year you were told. Then ask for proof of the car's past, since the VIN alone says nothing about it.
