What is a Zacua VIN decoder?

The Zacua decoder reads the 17-character VIN and tells you the manufacturer, the model year and the country of manufacture. Our data for the brand covers two models, the MX2 and the MX3, with version data for model year 2017 and a hatchback body style.

A VIN does not record accidents, mileage, theft or previous owners. That information comes from a paid vehicle history report, while the decoder itself stays free and needs no registration.

What the Zacua decoder shows

  • The manufacturer and brand (Zacua)
  • The model year
  • The country of manufacture
  • The assembly plant, when it is coded
  • The vehicle type and body style, where the manufacturer encodes it
  • Engine and model details, where available
  • Whether the VIN structure and check digit are valid

How to read the VIN of a Zacua

Every VIN has 17 characters, and the letters I, O and Q are never used, so they cannot be mistaken for 1 and 0. The first three characters are the WMI, which identifies the manufacturer. Characters 4 to 8 describe the vehicle, character 9 is a check digit, and characters 12 to 17 are the serial number. At the moment we have no WMI code mapped to Zacua, so there is no list of prefixes to show here. That is a gap in our data and says nothing about your VIN.

Character 10 gives the model year. Our Zacua version data covers 2017 only, and a 2017 model year is written as the letter H in that position. Character 11 marks the plant. On cars sold in North America the check digit in position 9 is required, while many European VINs fill it differently, so do not judge a VIN by that character alone.

How a VIN is built

Every VIN has six parts. This is what each of them means.

Learn more about VINs

A VIN is built from six parts, and each one says something about the vehicle. Our guides explain how to read it and what it can and cannot tell you.

Before you buy a used Zacua

  • Compare the VIN on the dashboard, the door frame and the documents. All three should match.
  • Look for signs of tampering around the VIN plate and the door frame sticker.
  • Ask for the service history and check it against the car.
  • Run a full history report to see recorded damage, mileage and theft records.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I find the VIN on a Zacua?

Look at the vehicle registration document first, then at the car itself. The VIN is often visible at the base of the windscreen or on a label in the door frame. Copy all 17 characters exactly as printed.

What do the first characters of a Zacua VIN mean?

The first three characters are the WMI, the code that identifies the manufacturer. We do not currently have a WMI code mapped to Zacua, so we cannot list one here.

How do I find the model year of a Zacua from the VIN?

Check the 10th character. In our data the Zacua MX2 and MX3 versions are from model year 2017, which appears as the letter H. The decoder reads this character for you and shows the year.

What can the Zacua VIN decoder not show?

It cannot show accidents, mileage, theft records or the number of owners, because none of that is stored in the VIN. The decoder only reads the characters of the number itself.

What should I check before buying a used Zacua?

Make sure the VIN on the registration papers matches the one on the car, and that it has 17 characters without I, O or Q. Then compare the model year the decoder gives with what the seller says, and ask to see service records.
