Enter the 17-character VIN of a Wiesmann and the decoder reads out the manufacturer, the model year and the country of manufacture. Our data for the brand lists two models, GT and Roadster, with model years from 1993 to 2014, the Roadster body style, and a highest power figure of 420 hp.
The decoder works only from the VIN itself, so it says nothing about accidents, mileage, theft or previous owners. That information comes from a paid vehicle history report, while the decoder stays free and needs no registration.
Every VIN has 17 characters, and the letters I, O and Q are never used. The first three characters are the WMI, which identifies the manufacturer. Characters 4 to 8 describe the vehicle, character 9 is a check digit, character 10 is the model year, character 11 the plant, and characters 12 to 17 the serial number. The check digit is required in North America, while many European VINs fill that position differently, so an unusual ninth character is not a reason for concern on its own.
At the moment we have no WMI code mapped to Wiesmann, so we cannot list one here or name a country from it. Our WMI list is not complete, and a VIN that starts with other characters is not wrong for that reason. The decoder still applies the general VIN rules to whatever you enter.
The tenth character is the easiest to check against the brand's range of 1993 to 2014. P stands for 1993, A for 2010 and E for 2014. From 2001 onward the year is shown by a digit instead of a letter, so a Wiesmann from 2005 carries a 5 in that position and one from 2009 carries a 9.
Every VIN has six parts. This is what each of them means.
| Part | Characters | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| WMI | 1 to 3 | World manufacturer identifier: who built the vehicle and where |
| VDS | 4 to 8 | Vehicle descriptor: model, body type and engine, as set by the manufacturer |
| Check digit | 9 | Control value that helps confirm the VIN is valid |
| Model year | 10 | Code for the model year |
| Plant | 11 | Code for the assembly plant |
| Serial | 12 to 17 | Production sequence number of this vehicle |
On the driver's side, visible through the windshield.
On a sticker on the door frame or the edge of the door.
Printed in the vehicle registration or title.
Stamped on the firewall or the frame on many models.
A VIN is built from six parts, and each one says something about the vehicle. Our guides explain how to read it and what it can and cannot tell you.

Start with the vehicle registration document, which prints the full 17 characters. On the car itself the number is often visible at the base of the windscreen or on a plate or door pillar, but the exact place can differ, so compare what you find with the papers.
The first three characters are the WMI, which identifies the manufacturer. We currently have no WMI code mapped to Wiesmann, so we list none here. Our list is incomplete, and a VIN starting with other characters is not wrong because of that.
Look at the tenth character. A letter P means 1993, A means 2010 and E means 2014, and cars from 2001 onward use a digit, for example 7 for 2007. Our version data for the brand covers 1993 to 2014.
It cannot show accidents, mileage, theft records or previous owners, because none of that is stored in the VIN. It also does not tell you the condition of the car or the equipment of a particular GT or Roadster.
Make sure the VIN on the car matches the registration papers and is identical everywhere it appears. Check that it has 17 characters, contains no I, O or Q, and that the tenth character fits the model year you were told. Ask for service records and have the car looked at in person before you pay.
