Enter the 17-character VIN of a WEY and the decoder reads the manufacturer, the model year and the country of manufacture from the code itself. Our data for the brand covers 12 models, among them 03, 05, Coffee 01, Coffee 02, Latte, P8, S, Tank 300, VV5, VV7, X and XEV, with model years from 2017 to 2024. The body style in our data is SUV. The decoder is free and needs no registration.
A VIN does not contain accidents, mileage, theft records or previous owners, so the decoder cannot show them. That information comes from a paid vehicle history report.
Every VIN has 17 characters, and the letters I, O and Q are never used, so they cannot be mistaken for 1 and 0. The first three characters are the WMI, the world manufacturer identifier. Positions 4 to 8 describe the vehicle, position 9 is the check digit, position 10 gives the model year, position 11 the assembly plant, and positions 12 to 17 are the serial number. The check digit is required in North America, while many European VINs fill that position differently.
For WEY we currently have no WMI codes mapped to the brand, and so no list of countries to show you. Our WMI list is not complete, which means the absence of a code here says nothing about your VIN. The decoder simply reports what it recognises.
The model year is the easiest part to check by eye. Our version data runs from 2017 to 2024, which corresponds to the tenth character H (2017), J (2018), K (2019), L (2020), M (2021), N (2022), P (2023) and R (2024). A WEY with an L in that position, for example, points to model year 2020.
Every VIN has six parts. This is what each of them means.
| Part | Characters | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| WMI | 1 to 3 | World manufacturer identifier: who built the vehicle and where |
| VDS | 4 to 8 | Vehicle descriptor: model, body type and engine, as set by the manufacturer |
| Check digit | 9 | Control value that helps confirm the VIN is valid |
| Model year | 10 | Code for the model year |
| Plant | 11 | Code for the assembly plant |
| Serial | 12 to 17 | Production sequence number of this vehicle |
On the driver's side, visible through the windshield.
On a sticker on the door frame or the edge of the door.
Printed in the vehicle registration or title.
Stamped on the firewall or the frame on many models.
A VIN is built from six parts, and each one says something about the vehicle. Our guides explain how to read it and what it can and cannot tell you.
Enter the 17-character VIN and see the factory basics in seconds.
It is printed on the registration document and on the vehicle itself, commonly at the base of the windscreen or on a label at the door pillar. Copy all 17 characters exactly, and remember there is no I, O or Q.
The first three characters are the WMI, which identifies the manufacturer and the country. We have no WMI codes mapped to WEY at the moment, so we cannot list any here. Our list is incomplete, so a VIN starting with other characters is not a cause for concern.
Look at the tenth character. For the years in our data, H is 2017, J 2018, K 2019, L 2020, M 2021, N 2022, P 2023 and R 2024.
It cannot show accidents, mileage, theft or previous owners, because none of that is stored in the VIN. It also does not give trim, equipment or power figures for your specific car.
Make sure the VIN on the car matches the one in the documents, and that the tenth character fits the model year in the advert. Then ask the seller for service records and look at the car in person, including the 12 to 17 serial part of the VIN plate for signs of tampering.
