Enter a 17-character VIN and the W Motors decoder reads the manufacturer, the model year and the country of manufacture from it. It is free and needs no registration. Our data for the brand lists two models, Fenyr and Lykan, with version data for model years 2013 to 2017 and a highest power figure of 900 hp.
The decoder reads only the VIN itself, so it shows nothing about a particular car's past, such as accidents, mileage, theft or previous owners. That information comes from a paid vehicle history report.
Every VIN has 17 characters, and the letters I, O and Q are never used, so they cannot be mistaken for 1 and 0. The first three characters are the WMI, which identifies the manufacturer. We do not yet have any WMI codes mapped to W Motors, and our list is not complete, so there is no code to show here and no country to name from the first three characters.
Characters 4 to 8 describe the vehicle. Character 9 is the check digit, which is required in North America, while many European VINs fill it differently. The 10th character gives the model year. For a W Motors in our data range, D means 2013, E 2014, F 2015, G 2016 and H 2017.
The 11th character points to the plant where the car was built, and characters 12 to 17 are the serial number. VINs in this 17-character format have been used for cars built since 1981.
Every VIN has six parts. This is what each of them means.
| Part | Characters | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| WMI | 1 to 3 | World manufacturer identifier: who built the vehicle and where |
| VDS | 4 to 8 | Vehicle descriptor: model, body type and engine, as set by the manufacturer |
| Check digit | 9 | Control value that helps confirm the VIN is valid |
| Model year | 10 | Code for the model year |
| Plant | 11 | Code for the assembly plant |
| Serial | 12 to 17 | Production sequence number of this vehicle |
On the driver's side, visible through the windshield.
On a sticker on the door frame or the edge of the door.
Printed in the vehicle registration or title.
Stamped on the firewall or the frame on many models.
A VIN is built from six parts, and each one says something about the vehicle. Our guides explain how to read it and what it can and cannot tell you.

On most cars the VIN is on a plate at the base of the windscreen, on the door frame, and in the registration papers. Compare these places and make sure the number is the same everywhere.
The first three characters are the WMI, which identifies the manufacturer. We have no WMI codes mapped to W Motors at the moment, and our list is not complete, so we cannot give you a code to look for.
Look at the 10th character. Within our data range of 2013 to 2017 the letters are D for 2013, E for 2014, F for 2015, G for 2016 and H for 2017.
It cannot show accidents, mileage, theft records or the number of owners, because none of that is stored in the VIN. The decoder only reads the manufacturer, model year and country of manufacture from the 17 characters.
Check that the VIN on the car matches the registration papers and has 17 characters without I, O or Q. Make sure the 10th character fits the year the seller states, and ask for service records and proof of ownership.
