This free decoder reads the 17 characters of a Vencer VIN and tells you who made the car, which model year it belongs to and which country it was built in. No registration is needed. Our data for the brand is small: one model, the Sarthe, and a single model year, 2015.
A VIN does not record accidents, mileage, theft or previous owners, so the decoder cannot show them. That information comes from a paid vehicle history report.

Every VIN has 17 characters, and the letters I, O and Q are never used. The first three are the World Manufacturer Identifier, or WMI. We do not currently have any WMI codes on file for Vencer, so we cannot name a prefix or a country of manufacture here. Our list is not complete, and that says nothing about any particular VIN.
Characters 4 to 8 describe the vehicle, and character 9 is a check digit. North American VINs require it, while many European VINs fill that position differently. Character 10 is the model year. Our version data for Vencer covers 2015 only, and the letter for 2015 is F, so a Vencer Sarthe from that year would normally show an F in the tenth position.
Character 11 marks the assembly plant, and characters 12 to 17 are the serial number. This layout applies to cars built since 1981.
Every VIN has six parts. This is what each of them means.
| Part | Characters | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| WMI | 1 to 3 | World manufacturer identifier: who built the vehicle and where |
| VDS | 4 to 8 | Vehicle descriptor: model, body type and engine, as set by the manufacturer |
| Check digit | 9 | Control value that helps confirm the VIN is valid |
| Model year | 10 | Code for the model year |
| Plant | 11 | Code for the assembly plant |
| Serial | 12 to 17 | Production sequence number of this vehicle |
On the driver's side, visible through the windshield.
On a sticker on the door frame or the edge of the door.
Printed in the vehicle registration or title.
Stamped on the firewall or the frame on many models.
A VIN is built from six parts, and each one says something about the vehicle. Our guides explain how to read it and what it can and cannot tell you.

The VIN is usually printed on a plate at the base of the windscreen on the driver's side, on a sticker in the door frame and in the registration papers. Compare at least two of these, and copy all 17 characters exactly.
The first three characters are the WMI, which identifies the manufacturer and the country of manufacture. We have no WMI codes on file for Vencer yet, so we cannot list any here.
Look at the tenth character. Our Vencer data covers the model year 2015, which is shown by the letter F. Other model years use other letters or digits.
It only reads the VIN itself, so it shows nothing about accidents, mileage, theft or owners. None of that is stored in the 17 characters.
Make sure the VIN is identical on the car and in the documents, and that the tenth character fits the year the seller states. Then have the car inspected in person and ask the seller for its service records.
