Enter a 17-character VIN and the SSC decoder reads what the number itself states: the manufacturer, the model year and the country of manufacture. Our data for the brand covers two models, the Tuatara and the Ultimate Aero, with version data for model years 2007 to 2019.
A VIN does not contain accidents, mileage, theft records or previous owners. That information comes from a paid vehicle history report. The decoder itself is free and needs no registration.

Every VIN has 17 characters, and the letters I, O and Q are never used. The first three characters are the WMI, which identifies the manufacturer and the country. At the moment we have no WMI codes on record for SSC, so we cannot name a prefix to look for here. You can still enter any VIN and see what the decoder returns.
Characters 4 to 8 describe the vehicle, and character 9 is a check digit. North American VINs are required to use it as one, while many European VINs fill that position differently. Position 10 gives the model year. For the years our SSC data covers, a 7 means 2007 and a K means 2019, with A for 2010 and D for 2013 in between. Character 11 shows the plant, and characters 12 to 17 are the serial number.
Every VIN has six parts. This is what each of them means.
| Part | Characters | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| WMI | 1 to 3 | World manufacturer identifier: who built the vehicle and where |
| VDS | 4 to 8 | Vehicle descriptor: model, body type and engine, as set by the manufacturer |
| Check digit | 9 | Control value that helps confirm the VIN is valid |
| Model year | 10 | Code for the model year |
| Plant | 11 | Code for the assembly plant |
| Serial | 12 to 17 | Production sequence number of this vehicle |
On the driver's side, visible through the windshield.
On a sticker on the door frame or the edge of the door.
Printed in the vehicle registration or title.
Stamped on the firewall or the frame on many models.
A VIN is built from six parts, and each one says something about the vehicle. Our guides explain how to read it and what it can and cannot tell you.
Enter the 17-character VIN and see the factory basics in seconds.
Look at the vehicle registration documents first, where the full 17 characters are printed. The number is also marked on the car itself, but the exact spot differs between vehicles, so check the owner documents if you cannot find it.
The first three characters are the WMI, which identifies the manufacturer and the country. We have no WMI codes listed for SSC at present, so the decoder cannot point to a specific prefix here.
Read the 10th character. A 7 stands for 2007, an A for 2010, a D for 2013 and a K for 2019. Our SSC version data runs from 2007 to 2019.
It does not show accidents, mileage, theft or previous owners, because none of that is stored in the VIN. It also does not list body style or power for SSC, as we have no such data for the brand.
Compare the VIN on the car with the one in the documents, and make sure it has 17 characters without I, O or Q. Then ask the seller for service records and proof of ownership, and have the car inspected in person.
