This page decodes the 17-character VIN of a Sportequipe. Enter it and you get the manufacturer, the model year and the country of manufacture, as far as the VIN itself states them. Our data lists four Sportequipe models (5, 6, 7 and 8), with SUV as the body style and version data from 2022 to the present.
The decoder reads only the VIN, so it says nothing about a car's past, such as accidents, mileage, theft or previous owners. That information comes from a paid vehicle history report. The decoder itself is free and needs no registration.
Every VIN of a car built since 1981 has 17 characters, and the letters I, O and Q are never used. The first three characters are the World Manufacturer Identifier (WMI), which names the maker and the country of manufacture. At the moment we have no WMI codes mapped to Sportequipe, so there is no code we can show as an example. Our list is not complete, and that is a gap in our data, not a comment on any particular VIN.
Characters 4 to 8 describe the vehicle, and character 9 is a check digit. North American VINs must use it, while many European VINs fill it differently. The 10th character gives the model year. For the years in our Sportequipe data, N means 2022, P is 2023, R is 2024, S is 2025 and T is 2026.
Character 11 marks the plant where the car was built, and characters 12 to 17 are the serial number. Together with the model year letter, these are the parts worth comparing against the registration papers of a Sportequipe 5, 6, 7 or 8.
Every VIN has six parts. This is what each of them means.
| Part | Characters | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| WMI | 1 to 3 | World manufacturer identifier: who built the vehicle and where |
| VDS | 4 to 8 | Vehicle descriptor: model, body type and engine, as set by the manufacturer |
| Check digit | 9 | Control value that helps confirm the VIN is valid |
| Model year | 10 | Code for the model year |
| Plant | 11 | Code for the assembly plant |
| Serial | 12 to 17 | Production sequence number of this vehicle |
On the driver's side, visible through the windshield.
On a sticker on the door frame or the edge of the door.
Printed in the vehicle registration or title.
Stamped on the firewall or the frame on many models.
A VIN is built from six parts, and each one says something about the vehicle. Our guides explain how to read it and what it can and cannot tell you.

It is normally printed in the vehicle registration documents and on the car itself, often at the base of the windscreen or on a plate or sticker in the door area. Copy all 17 characters exactly, and remember that I, O and Q never appear.
The first three characters are the WMI, which identifies the manufacturer and the country where the car was built. We do not yet have WMI codes mapped to Sportequipe, so the decoder may not be able to name the maker from them. That says nothing about whether a VIN is correct.
Look at the 10th character. For Sportequipe model years in our data, N stands for 2022, P for 2023, R for 2024, S for 2025 and T for 2026.
It cannot show accidents, mileage, theft records or the number of owners, because none of that is stored in the VIN. It also does not give any information on the condition of a particular car.
Make sure the VIN in the documents matches the one on the car, and that it has 17 characters without I, O or Q. Then check that the model year character fits the car you are being offered. Our data covers the 5, 6, 7 and 8 from 2022 onward.
