What is a Sbarro VIN decoder?

Enter a 17-character VIN and the HistoVIN decoder reads what is encoded in it: the manufacturer, the model year and the country of manufacture. For Sbarro, our data currently lists one model, the GTC.

The decoder reads only the VIN itself, so it says nothing about a car's past. Accidents, mileage, theft and previous owners are not stored in the number, and that information comes from a paid vehicle history report.

What the Sbarro decoder shows

  • The manufacturer and brand (Sbarro)
  • The model year
  • The country of manufacture
  • The assembly plant, when it is coded
  • The vehicle type and body style, where the manufacturer encodes it
  • Engine and model details, where available
  • Whether the VIN structure and check digit are valid

How the VIN of a Sbarro is read

A VIN has 17 characters, and the letters I, O and Q are never used. The first three characters are the WMI, which identifies the manufacturer and the country. Characters 4 to 8 describe the vehicle, character 9 is a check digit, character 10 gives the model year, character 11 the plant, and characters 12 to 17 are the serial number.

At the moment we have no WMI code mapped to Sbarro, so we cannot name a prefix or a country of manufacture for the brand. Our list of codes is not complete, and a VIN that begins with other characters is not a reason for concern. If you enter a Sbarro VIN, the decoder still reads the characters it can and shows the result.

Our version data does not cover model years, body styles or power figures for Sbarro. The GTC is the only model name we hold. For the model year, look at character 10 of your VIN, and check it against the registration papers of the car.

Learn more about VINs

A VIN is built from six parts, and each one says something about the vehicle. Our guides explain how to read it and what it can and cannot tell you.

Before you buy a used Sbarro

  • Compare the VIN on the dashboard, the door frame and the documents. All three should match.
  • Look for signs of tampering around the VIN plate and the door frame sticker.
  • Ask for the service history and check it against the car.
  • Run a full history report to see recorded damage, mileage and theft records.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I find the VIN on a Sbarro?

VINs are usually found on the registration document and on a plate or sticker on the car, often at the base of the windscreen or on a door pillar. Check that the number on the car matches the one in the papers.

What do the first characters of a Sbarro VIN mean?

The first three characters are the WMI, which identifies the manufacturer and the country. We have no WMI code mapped to Sbarro yet, so we cannot list one here.

How do I find the model year of a Sbarro?

The model year is encoded in character 10 of the VIN. The decoder translates that character into a year for you. This system applies to cars built since 1981.

What can the decoder not show me?

It cannot show accidents, mileage, theft records or previous owners, because none of that is part of the VIN. It also does not give body style or power for Sbarro, as we have no such data for the brand.

What should I check before buying a used Sbarro?

Compare the VIN on the car with the one in the documents, and check that the decoded year and manufacturer fit what the seller tells you. Then look into the car's past through sources outside the VIN, and have the car inspected in person.
