This free decoder reads the 17-character VIN of a Qiantu and shows the manufacturer, the model year and the country of manufacture that are encoded in it. Our data lists one Qiantu model, the K50, with version data from 2018 to the present.
A VIN does not record accidents, mileage, theft or previous owners. That information comes from a paid vehicle history report, while the decoder stays free and needs no registration.

Every VIN has 17 characters, and the letters I, O and Q are never used, so they cannot be mistaken for 1 and 0. The first three characters are the World Manufacturer Identifier, or WMI. We do not currently have a WMI code mapped to Qiantu, so there is no code to quote here. Our list is not complete, and a VIN that starts with other characters is not a reason for doubt.
Characters 4 to 8 describe the vehicle, and character 9 is a check digit. North American VINs require the check digit, while many European VINs fill that position differently. The tenth character gives the model year. For a Qiantu from our 2018 to present range, J stands for 2018, K for 2019 and L for 2020. Character 11 identifies the plant, and characters 12 to 17 are the serial number.
Every VIN has six parts. This is what each of them means.
| Part | Characters | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| WMI | 1 to 3 | World manufacturer identifier: who built the vehicle and where |
| VDS | 4 to 8 | Vehicle descriptor: model, body type and engine, as set by the manufacturer |
| Check digit | 9 | Control value that helps confirm the VIN is valid |
| Model year | 10 | Code for the model year |
| Plant | 11 | Code for the assembly plant |
| Serial | 12 to 17 | Production sequence number of this vehicle |
On the driver's side, visible through the windshield.

Stamped on the firewall or the frame on many models.
A VIN is built from six parts, and each one says something about the vehicle. Our guides explain how to read it and what it can and cannot tell you.

Look at the base of the windscreen on the driver's side, on a sticker in the door pillar, and in the registration papers. Check that the numbers match each other, then type all 17 characters into the decoder.
The first three characters are the WMI, which identifies the manufacturer and the country. We have no WMI code mapped to Qiantu at the moment, and our list is not complete, so the decoder may show less for the manufacturer than it does for other brands.
Read the tenth character. J means 2018, K means 2019 and L means 2020, and the letters continue in order for later years. Our version data for the K50 starts in 2018.
It reads only the VIN itself. It does not show body style or power for this brand, and it cannot show accidents, mileage, theft records or the number of owners.
Make sure the VIN on the car matches the one on the paperwork, and ask the seller for service records. Have the car inspected by a mechanic, and compare what the seller says about its age with the model year character in the VIN.
