This page decodes the 17-character VIN of a Puritalia. From the number alone it reads the manufacturer, the model year and the country of manufacture, and you do not need to register to use it. Our data for the brand is small: one model, the Berlinetta, with version data for model year 2019 only.
A VIN does not record accidents, mileage, theft or previous owners. That information comes from a paid vehicle history report, which is a separate product from this free decoder.
Pick a Puritalia model to see how its VIN works.
The first three characters are the World Manufacturer Identifier, or WMI. We do not currently have any WMI codes mapped to Puritalia, so there is no code to quote here and no country of manufacture to list from our data. Our WMI list is not complete, and a VIN that starts with characters we do not list is not made doubtful by that.
The tenth character gives the model year. For the 2019 model year covered by our Berlinetta data, that character is K. Characters 4 to 8 describe the vehicle, the eleventh normally points to the plant, and characters 12 to 17 are the serial number. The ninth is a check digit, which is required in North America, while many European VINs fill it differently. The letters I, O and Q are never used in a VIN.
Every VIN has six parts. This is what each of them means.
| Part | Characters | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| WMI | 1 to 3 | World manufacturer identifier: who built the vehicle and where |
| VDS | 4 to 8 | Vehicle descriptor: model, body type and engine, as set by the manufacturer |
| Check digit | 9 | Control value that helps confirm the VIN is valid |
| Model year | 10 | Code for the model year |
| Plant | 11 | Code for the assembly plant |
| Serial | 12 to 17 | Production sequence number of this vehicle |
On the driver's side, visible through the windshield.
On a sticker on the door frame or the edge of the door.
Printed in the vehicle registration or title.
Stamped on the firewall or the frame on many models.
A VIN is built from six parts, and each one says something about the vehicle. Our guides explain how to read it and what it can and cannot tell you.

On most cars the VIN is stamped on a plate at the base of the windscreen, printed on a label in a door frame, and written on the registration papers. Compare these places, because they should all show the same 17 characters.
The first three characters are the WMI, which identifies the manufacturer and the country. We have no WMI codes mapped to Puritalia at the moment, so the decoder may show little about the manufacturer from this part. That reflects our list, not the quality of your VIN.
Look at the tenth character of the VIN. A K there stands for 2019, which is the model year our version data covers for this brand.
It reads only the characters of the VIN itself. Accident damage, mileage readings, theft records and the number of owners are not stored in the number, so the decoder cannot show them.
Make sure the VIN on the car matches the one in the papers and that it has 17 characters without I, O or Q. Then ask for service records and have the car inspected in person, since the VIN says nothing about its condition.
