Enter a 17-character VIN and the Nammi decoder reads what is encoded in it: the manufacturer, the model year and the country of manufacture. Our data for the brand is small. It lists one model, the 01, as a hatchback, with version data for the 2024 model year only.
A VIN does not record accidents, mileage, theft or previous owners. That information comes from a paid vehicle history report, while the decoder here stays free and needs no registration.

Every VIN has 17 characters, and the letters I, O and Q are never used, so they cannot be mistaken for 1 and 0. The first three characters are the World Manufacturer Identifier, or WMI. It says who built the vehicle and in which country. At the moment we have no WMI codes mapped to Nammi, so we cannot list the codes or the countries behind them. That is a gap in our list and says nothing about any particular VIN.
Characters 4 to 8 describe the vehicle itself, and character 9 is the check digit. North American VINs must calculate it, while many European VINs fill that position differently. The tenth character is the model year. For the 2024 model year in our Nammi 01 data, the standard letter is R. Keep in mind that R also stands for 1994 in the same scheme, so the other characters and the vehicle itself matter too.
Character 11 usually points to the plant where the car was assembled, and characters 12 to 17 are the serial number. The VIN system applies to cars built since 1981, so the decoder reads the same positions whatever the brand.
Every VIN has six parts. This is what each of them means.
| Part | Characters | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| WMI | 1 to 3 | World manufacturer identifier: who built the vehicle and where |
| VDS | 4 to 8 | Vehicle descriptor: model, body type and engine, as set by the manufacturer |
| Check digit | 9 | Control value that helps confirm the VIN is valid |
| Model year | 10 | Code for the model year |
| Plant | 11 | Code for the assembly plant |
| Serial | 12 to 17 | Production sequence number of this vehicle |
On the driver's side, visible through the windshield.
On a sticker on the door frame or the edge of the door.
Printed in the vehicle registration or title.
Stamped on the firewall or the frame on many models.
A VIN is built from six parts, and each one says something about the vehicle. Our guides explain how to read it and what it can and cannot tell you.

VINs are commonly found at the base of the windscreen on the driver side, on a sticker in a door frame, and in the registration documents. Check the number on the car against the papers character by character.
The first three characters are the WMI, which identifies the manufacturer and country. We do not know any WMI codes for Nammi yet, so our list is empty for this brand. A VIN that starts differently is not a problem in itself.
Look at the tenth character. A 2024 model year is shown by the letter R, which is the only year in our Nammi 01 version data. Remember that the letter is a code, not a date of production.
It cannot show accidents, mileage, theft or the number of owners, because none of that is stored in the VIN. It only translates the characters into manufacturer, model year and country of manufacture.
Confirm that the VIN on the car matches the documents and that it contains no I, O or Q. Ask for service records and the ownership papers, and inspect the car in person or have it inspected.
