This page decodes the VIN of a Munro. Enter the 17 characters and the decoder reads the manufacturer, the model year and the country of manufacture. It is free and needs no registration. Our version data for Munro currently covers one model, MK_1, and model year 2023.
A VIN holds no accident records, mileage readings, theft flags or owner details. That information comes from a paid vehicle history report. The decoder here only works with what is encoded in the number itself.

Every VIN has 17 characters, and the letters I, O and Q are never used. The first three characters are the WMI, the world manufacturer identifier, which points to the maker and the country of manufacture. For Munro we have no WMI codes on file at the moment, so we cannot list any here. Our list is not complete, and a VIN that starts with other characters is not a problem for that reason alone.
Characters 4 to 8 form the descriptor section, and character 9 is the check digit. North American VINs must use it as a check digit, while many European VINs fill it differently. Character 10 gives the model year. Our Munro data covers 2023, which appears as the letter P, so a Munro from that year would carry a P in tenth position. Character 11 marks the plant, and characters 12 to 17 are the serial number.
Every VIN has six parts. This is what each of them means.
| Part | Characters | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| WMI | 1 to 3 | World manufacturer identifier: who built the vehicle and where |
| VDS | 4 to 8 | Vehicle descriptor: model, body type and engine, as set by the manufacturer |
| Check digit | 9 | Control value that helps confirm the VIN is valid |
| Model year | 10 | Code for the model year |
| Plant | 11 | Code for the assembly plant |
| Serial | 12 to 17 | Production sequence number of this vehicle |
On the driver's side, visible through the windshield.
On a sticker on the door frame or the edge of the door.
Printed in the vehicle registration or title.
Stamped on the firewall or the frame on many models.
A VIN is built from six parts, and each one says something about the vehicle. Our guides explain how to read it and what it can and cannot tell you.

The VIN is usually printed at the base of the windscreen on the driver's side and on a plate or sticker in the door frame. It also appears in the registration documents. Compare these places, because they should all show the same 17 characters.
The first three characters are the WMI, which identifies the manufacturer and the country of manufacture. We have no WMI codes mapped to Munro yet, so we cannot name any here. That is a gap in our list and says nothing about your VIN.
Look at the tenth character. For model year 2023, the year in our Munro data, the letter is P. Our version data for Munro covers 2023 only, and the model we have is MK_1.
It cannot show accidents, mileage, theft records or previous owners, because none of that is stored in a VIN. It also does not tell you the condition of a particular vehicle.
Make sure the VIN has 17 characters, contains no I, O or Q, and matches on the vehicle and in the papers. Check that the tenth character fits the model year the seller states. Ask to see service records and have the vehicle inspected in person.
