Enter a 17-character VIN and the HistoVIN decoder reads the manufacturer, the model year and the country of manufacture from the code itself. For Lordstown, our data lists one model, the Endurance, with version data covering model years 2022 to present.
The decoder reads only the VIN, so it says nothing about accidents, mileage, theft or previous owners. That information comes from a paid vehicle history report, while the decoder stays free and needs no registration.

Every VIN has 17 characters, and the letters I, O and Q are never used, so they are not confused with 1 and 0. The first three characters are the World Manufacturer Identifier, or WMI. It tells you who built the vehicle and in which country. At the moment we have no WMI codes mapped to Lordstown, so we cannot list any here, and our data gives no country of manufacture for the brand either.
Our WMI list is not complete, and a VIN that starts with other characters is not a reason for doubt. Characters 4 to 8 describe the vehicle, character 9 is a check digit that North American VINs are required to carry, and characters 12 to 17 are the serial number. Character 11 points to the plant where the vehicle was assembled.
The tenth character gives the model year. For the years our Lordstown data covers, N stands for 2022, P for 2023 and R for 2024. A VIN with N in tenth position, for example, points to a 2022 model year, which is the earliest year in our version data for the Endurance.
Every VIN has six parts. This is what each of them means.
| Part | Characters | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| WMI | 1 to 3 | World manufacturer identifier: who built the vehicle and where |
| VDS | 4 to 8 | Vehicle descriptor: model, body type and engine, as set by the manufacturer |
| Check digit | 9 | Control value that helps confirm the VIN is valid |
| Model year | 10 | Code for the model year |
| Plant | 11 | Code for the assembly plant |
| Serial | 12 to 17 | Production sequence number of this vehicle |

A VIN is built from six parts, and each one says something about the vehicle. Our guides explain how to read it and what it can and cannot tell you.

The VIN is usually printed on a plate at the base of the windshield on the driver's side and on a label in the door frame. It is also listed in the registration papers. Compare the number on the vehicle with the one in the documents.
The first three characters are the WMI, which identifies the manufacturer and the country. We have no WMI codes mapped to Lordstown yet, so the decoder may not name the brand for every VIN. That does not say anything about the vehicle itself.
Look at the tenth character. N means 2022, P means 2023 and R means 2024. Our version data for the Endurance starts in 2022.
It cannot show accidents, mileage, theft records or the number of owners, because none of that is stored in the VIN. Our data also has no body style or power figures for the brand.
Make sure the VIN has 17 characters, contains no I, O or Q, and matches the number on the vehicle and in the registration papers. Ask the seller for service records and look the vehicle over in person. Then compare the model year the decoder reports with what the seller claims.
