Enter a 17-character VIN and the Leapmotor decoder reads what is built into the number itself: the manufacturer, the model year and the country of manufacture. Our data holds 5 Leapmotor models, among them the C01, C10, C11, S01 and T03, in Sedan, SUV and Hatchback body styles. The highest power figure we have on record is 131 hp.
The decoder does not show accidents, mileage, theft records or previous owners, because none of that is stored in a VIN. That information comes from a paid vehicle history report, while the decoder itself stays free and needs no registration.
Every VIN has 17 characters, and the letters I, O and Q are never used, so they cannot be mistaken for 1 and 0. The first three characters are the WMI, the world manufacturer identifier. Characters 4 to 8 describe the vehicle, character 9 is the check digit, character 10 is the model year, character 11 is the assembly plant and characters 12 to 17 are the serial number.
At the moment we have no WMI codes mapped to Leapmotor, so we cannot list the codes or countries of manufacture for the brand here. Our list is not complete, and a VIN that starts with other characters is not a sign of a problem. Check digit rules also differ by region: North America requires it, while many European VINs fill position 9 differently.
The tenth character is the easiest part to check yourself. A P stands for model year 2023 and an R for 2024, and our version data for the brand runs up to 2024. Since 1981 this position has followed a fixed letter and digit sequence, so the same character reads the same way on any VIN built from then on.
Every VIN has six parts. This is what each of them means.
| Part | Characters | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| WMI | 1 to 3 | World manufacturer identifier: who built the vehicle and where |
| VDS | 4 to 8 | Vehicle descriptor: model, body type and engine, as set by the manufacturer |
| Check digit | 9 | Control value that helps confirm the VIN is valid |
| Model year | 10 | Code for the model year |
| Plant | 11 | Code for the assembly plant |
| Serial | 12 to 17 | Production sequence number of this vehicle |
On the driver's side, visible through the windshield.
On a sticker on the door frame or the edge of the door.
Printed in the vehicle registration or title.
Stamped on the firewall or the frame on many models.
A VIN is built from six parts, and each one says something about the vehicle. Our guides explain how to read it and what it can and cannot tell you.
Enter the 17-character VIN and see the factory basics in seconds.
Look at the base of the windshield on the driver's side, on the sticker in the door frame, and in the registration papers. Make sure the number is the same in every place.
The first three characters are the WMI, which identifies the manufacturer and the country. We currently have no WMI codes mapped to Leapmotor, so our list is simply incomplete for this brand and says nothing about your VIN.
Read the tenth character. For example, P means 2023 and R means 2024. The decoder shows this year for you once you enter the full VIN.
It cannot show accidents, mileage, theft status or the number of owners, since a VIN does not contain any of that. It reads only the 17 characters of the number.
Compare the VIN on the car with the one in the papers, and check that it has 17 characters without the letters I, O or Q. Then ask the seller for service records and look closely at the body, the interior and the tyres.
