Enter a 17-character VIN and the Landwind decoder reads what the number itself holds: the manufacturer code, the model year and the country of manufacture. Our data for the brand covers four models (SUV, X5, X7 and Xiaoyao) and model years from 2006 to 2020, with SUV as the body style and 163 hp as the highest power figure we have.
The decoder does not show accidents, mileage, theft records or previous owners, because none of that is stored in a VIN. That information comes from a paid vehicle history report. The decoder itself is free and needs no registration.
Every VIN has 17 characters and never uses the letters I, O or Q. The first three characters are the World Manufacturer Identifier, or WMI, which names the maker and the country of manufacture. Characters 4 to 8 describe the vehicle, character 9 is a check digit, character 10 gives the model year, character 11 the assembly plant, and characters 12 to 17 are the serial number.
For Landwind we do not currently have any WMI codes mapped to the brand, so we cannot list codes or countries here. Our list is not complete, and that says nothing about any particular VIN. The decoder still reads the model year and applies the general VIN rules to the number you enter.
The model year character is the easiest part to check yourself. Our Landwind data runs from 2006 to 2020. A 10th character of 6 stands for 2006, A for 2010 and L for 2020. Remember that the check digit in position 9 is required in North America, while many European VINs fill it differently.
Every VIN has six parts. This is what each of them means.
| Part | Characters | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| WMI | 1 to 3 | World manufacturer identifier: who built the vehicle and where |
| VDS | 4 to 8 | Vehicle descriptor: model, body type and engine, as set by the manufacturer |
| Check digit | 9 | Control value that helps confirm the VIN is valid |
| Model year | 10 | Code for the model year |
| Plant | 11 | Code for the assembly plant |
| Serial | 12 to 17 | Production sequence number of this vehicle |
On the driver's side, visible through the windshield.
On a sticker on the door frame or the edge of the door.
Printed in the vehicle registration or title.
Stamped on the firewall or the frame on many models.
A VIN is built from six parts, and each one says something about the vehicle. Our guides explain how to read it and what it can and cannot tell you.
Enter the 17-character VIN and see the factory basics in seconds.
Look at the vehicle registration document first, then at the car itself. A VIN is usually shown on a plate or stamping, for example at the base of the windscreen or on the door pillar. Compare the number in both places and copy all 17 characters carefully.
The first three characters are the WMI, which identify the manufacturer and country. We have no WMI codes mapped to Landwind at the moment, so we cannot name specific ones here.
Look at the 10th character. In our data the Landwind model years run from 2006 to 2020, so you might see 6 for 2006, A for 2010 or L for 2020. The decoder translates the character for you.
It reads only the VIN, so it gives the manufacturer, model year and country of manufacture. Accidents, mileage, theft and owners are not part of a VIN.
Make sure the VIN on the car matches the one in the registration papers, and that the model year from the 10th character fits the car as advertised. Then ask the seller for service records and have the car inspected in person. The models in our data are SUV, X5, X7 and Xiaoyao, so confirm the one you are looking at matches the listing.
