Our version data for the brand is small: three models, among them the E-series, Yuhu and Yusheng, with model years from 2011 to 2017. The body styles are Hatchback, Sedan and SUV, and the highest power we have on record is 136 hp. A VIN does not contain accidents, mileage, theft or previous owners. That information comes from a paid vehicle history report.
Every VIN built since 1981 has 17 characters, and the letters I, O and Q are never used. The first three characters are the WMI, which tells you who built the vehicle and where. We do not have any WMI codes mapped to Jiangling at the moment, so there is no list of codes or countries to show here. Our WMI list is not complete, and a VIN that starts with other characters is not a reason for concern.
Characters 4 to 8 describe the vehicle, and character 9 is the check digit. North American VINs require it, while many European VINs fill that position differently. Character 10 is the model year. For the years in our Jiangling data, 2011 is B, 2012 is C, 2013 is D, 2014 is E, 2015 is F, 2016 is G and 2017 is H.
Character 11 marks the plant, and characters 12 to 17 are the serial number of the individual vehicle.
Every VIN has six parts. This is what each of them means.
| Part | Characters | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| WMI | 1 to 3 | World manufacturer identifier: who built the vehicle and where |
| VDS | 4 to 8 | Vehicle descriptor: model, body type and engine, as set by the manufacturer |
| Check digit | 9 | Control value that helps confirm the VIN is valid |
| Model year | 10 | Code for the model year |
| Plant | 11 | Code for the assembly plant |
| Serial | 12 to 17 | Production sequence number of this vehicle |

Printed in the vehicle registration or title.
Stamped on the firewall or the frame on many models.
A VIN is built from six parts, and each one says something about the vehicle. Our guides explain how to read it and what it can and cannot tell you.

The VIN is often visible at the base of the windscreen or on a plate or sticker at the door frame, and it is printed in the registration papers. Check that the number on the car matches the one in the documents.
The first three characters are the WMI, which identifies the manufacturer and the region. We currently have no WMI codes mapped to Jiangling, so we cannot list any here. That is a gap in our list, not a statement about your VIN.
Look at the 10th character. In the range covered by our Jiangling data, B stands for 2011, E for 2014 and H for 2017, with the letters in between following the same order.
It reads only the VIN itself, so it gives the manufacturer, model year and country of manufacture. Accidents, mileage, theft and owners are not stored in the VIN.
Compare the VIN on the car with the one in the papers, and decode it to see whether the model year matches the seller's description. Then have the car inspected in person, since the VIN alone says nothing about its condition.
