Enter the 17-character VIN of an Isdera and the decoder reads what the number itself holds: the manufacturer, the model year and the country of manufacture. Our data for the brand covers three models, Commendatore, Imperator and Spyder, with version data for model years 1984 to 2018. The only body style listed is Convertible.
The decoder reads the VIN and nothing else, so it shows no accident entries, mileage readings, theft records or earlier owners. That information comes from a paid vehicle history report. The decoder itself is free and needs no registration.

A modern VIN has 17 characters and never uses the letters I, O or Q. The first three characters are the WMI, which identifies the manufacturer and the country. Characters 4 to 8 describe the vehicle, character 9 is a check digit, character 10 is the model year, character 11 the plant, and characters 12 to 17 are the serial number. This layout applies to cars built since 1981.
For Isdera we currently have no WMI codes mapped to the brand, so we cannot name a country of manufacture here. That only reflects the limits of our list. A VIN that starts with other characters is not wrong because of it, and the decoder still reads the number as far as its rules allow.
The model year character is the easiest part to check by hand. In our version data it runs from E for 1984 up to J for 2018, and L would stand for 1990. Letters repeat over the decades, so E can also mean 2014. Compare the character with the model range and the paperwork before you rely on it.
Every VIN has six parts. This is what each of them means.
| Part | Characters | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| WMI | 1 to 3 | World manufacturer identifier: who built the vehicle and where |
| VDS | 4 to 8 | Vehicle descriptor: model, body type and engine, as set by the manufacturer |
| Check digit | 9 | Control value that helps confirm the VIN is valid |
| Model year | 10 | Code for the model year |
| Plant | 11 | Code for the assembly plant |
| Serial | 12 to 17 | Production sequence number of this vehicle |

Stamped on the firewall or the frame on many models.
A VIN is built from six parts, and each one says something about the vehicle. Our guides explain how to read it and what it can and cannot tell you.

The usual places are the base of the windscreen on the driver's side, a plate or sticker at the door pillar, and the vehicle registration papers. Check that the number in the papers matches the one on the car, character by character.
The first three characters are the WMI, which points to the manufacturer and the country. We have no WMI codes mapped to Isdera at the moment, so we list none here, and a VIN with any starting characters can still be entered.
Look at the 10th character. For example, E means 1984 and J means 2018, which are the ends of the range in our Isdera version data. Remember that the letters repeat, so E can also mean 2014.
It cannot show accidents, mileage, theft status or previous owners, because none of that is stored in the VIN. It also does not give details of a particular car beyond what the 17 characters encode.
Make sure the VIN on the car, in the registration papers and in any sales documents is identical, and that the model year character fits the car being offered. Then ask for the service and ownership records, and have the car inspected in person.
