Enter a 17-character VIN and the HistoVIN decoder reads the manufacturer, the model year and the country of manufacture straight from the code. For Hurtan, our version data covers three models, among them Albaycin, Cabriolet and Grand Albaycin, with model years from 1997 to 2008. The body styles in that data are Convertible and Cabriolet, and the highest power we list is 200 hp. The decoder is free and needs no registration.
A VIN does not contain accidents, mileage, theft records or previous owners, so the decoder cannot show any of that. That information comes from a paid vehicle history report.

Every VIN has 17 characters, and the letters I, O and Q are never used. The first three characters are the WMI, which identifies the manufacturer and the country. We do not currently know of any WMI that we map to Hurtan, so there is no code we can quote here. Our WMI list is not complete, and a VIN that starts with other characters is not made wrong by that.
Characters 4 to 8 describe the vehicle, and character 9 is a check digit. North American VINs require it, while many European VINs fill it differently. The tenth character gives the model year. For a Hurtan from our range, a V stands for 1997, a 3 for 2003 and an 8 for 2008. Character 11 marks the plant, and characters 12 to 17 are the serial number.
Every VIN has six parts. This is what each of them means.
| Part | Characters | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| WMI | 1 to 3 | World manufacturer identifier: who built the vehicle and where |
| VDS | 4 to 8 | Vehicle descriptor: model, body type and engine, as set by the manufacturer |
| Check digit | 9 | Control value that helps confirm the VIN is valid |
| Model year | 10 | Code for the model year |
| Plant | 11 | Code for the assembly plant |
| Serial | 12 to 17 | Production sequence number of this vehicle |

Printed in the vehicle registration or title.
Stamped on the firewall or the frame on many models.
A VIN is built from six parts, and each one says something about the vehicle. Our guides explain how to read it and what it can and cannot tell you.

Look in the registration papers first, then on the car itself. On many cars the VIN is stamped on a plate at the base of the windscreen or printed on a sticker at the door pillar.
The first three characters are the WMI, which names the manufacturer and the country. We have no WMI mapped to Hurtan at the moment, so the decoder may not be able to name the maker from those characters. That says nothing about whether the VIN is genuine.
Use the tenth character. Within the 1997 to 2008 range of our data, V means 1997, W 1998, X 1999, Y 2000, and the digits 1 to 8 mean 2001 to 2008.
It cannot show accidents, mileage, theft or earlier owners, because none of that is stored in the VIN. The decoder only reads the code itself: manufacturer, model year and country of manufacture.
Compare the VIN on the car with the one in the papers, and make sure the tenth character fits the model year the seller claims. Then inspect the Convertible or Cabriolet body closely in person and ask for service records.
