Type or paste the 17-character VIN of a Haima into the decoder and it reads what the number itself holds: the manufacturer, the model year and the country of manufacture. It is free and needs no registration. Our version data covers 6 models, among them the 7X, 8S, S5, S5 Young, S7 and V70, for model years 2014 to 2022.
A VIN does not record accidents, mileage, theft or previous owners. That information comes from a paid vehicle history report, which you can order separately after decoding.
Every VIN has 17 characters, and the letters I, O and Q are never used, so they cannot be mistaken for 1 and 0. The first three characters are the World Manufacturer Identifier, or WMI. Characters 4 to 8 describe the vehicle, character 9 is a check digit, character 10 gives the model year, character 11 the assembly plant, and characters 12 to 17 are the serial number.
We do not yet have any WMI codes mapped to Haima, so there is no code to list here and no country we can name from the first three characters. Our list of recognised codes is not complete, and a VIN that starts differently from anything we show is not a reason for concern. Use the decoder result for the details it can read.
The model year is the easiest part to check yourself. Position 10 is a letter or a digit: E stands for 2014, J for 2018, L for 2020 and N for 2022. Those years sit inside the 2014 to 2022 range of our Haima data. Keep in mind that the model year is not always the same as the year the car was built or first registered.
Every VIN has six parts. This is what each of them means.
| Part | Characters | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| WMI | 1 to 3 | World manufacturer identifier: who built the vehicle and where |
| VDS | 4 to 8 | Vehicle descriptor: model, body type and engine, as set by the manufacturer |
| Check digit | 9 | Control value that helps confirm the VIN is valid |
| Model year | 10 | Code for the model year |
| Plant | 11 | Code for the assembly plant |
| Serial | 12 to 17 | Production sequence number of this vehicle |
On the driver's side, visible through the windshield.
On a sticker on the door frame or the edge of the door.
Printed in the vehicle registration or title.
Stamped on the firewall or the frame on many models.
A VIN is built from six parts, and each one says something about the vehicle. Our guides explain how to read it and what it can and cannot tell you.

The VIN is usually printed on a plate at the base of the windscreen on the driver's side and on the vehicle registration document. It is often also stamped on the body or chassis, for example in the door frame or under the bonnet. Compare more than one of these places with the paperwork.
The first three characters are the WMI and identify the manufacturer. We have no WMI codes on record for Haima at the moment, so we cannot name one here. The decoder will still read the rest of the number and show what it can.
Look at the 10th character. For the model years in our Haima data, E means 2014, H means 2017, K means 2019, M means 2021 and N means 2022. The decoder does this for you when you enter the full VIN.
It reads only the VIN, so it shows the manufacturer, model year and country of manufacture. Accident damage, mileage, theft records and the number of owners are not stored in the VIN.
Make sure the VIN on the car matches the registration papers and that the plate and body stampings look untouched. Ask for service records and have the car inspected. Our data lists SUV as the body style and 195 hp as the highest power, so compare those with what the seller tells you.
