The Felino VIN decoder reads the 17 characters of a VIN and shows the manufacturer, the model year and the country of manufacture. Our data for the brand covers one model, the cB7, with version data for model years 2016 to 2020, and the highest power we have on record is 750 hp. The decoder is free and needs no registration.
A VIN does not contain accidents, mileage, theft records or previous owners. That information comes from a paid vehicle history report, which you can look at once you have the VIN of the car you are considering.

Every VIN has 17 characters, and the letters I, O and Q are never used. The first three characters are the WMI, which identifies the manufacturer and the region. Characters 4 to 8 describe the vehicle, character 9 is a check digit, character 10 is the model year, character 11 is the plant and characters 12 to 17 are the serial number. This layout applies to cars built since 1981.
At the moment we have no WMI codes mapped to Felino, so we cannot list the first three characters or the countries they belong to. Our list is not complete, and a VIN that starts with other characters is not a problem in itself. The decoder simply shows what it can recognise.
The tenth character is easier to use. Our version data for the cB7 runs from 2016 to 2020, which corresponds to the letters G (2016), H (2017), J (2018), K (2019) and L (2020). Character 9 is a required check digit in North America, while many European VINs fill it differently, so do not read too much into it.
Every VIN has six parts. This is what each of them means.
| Part | Characters | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| WMI | 1 to 3 | World manufacturer identifier: who built the vehicle and where |
| VDS | 4 to 8 | Vehicle descriptor: model, body type and engine, as set by the manufacturer |
| Check digit | 9 | Control value that helps confirm the VIN is valid |
| Model year | 10 | Code for the model year |
| Plant | 11 | Code for the assembly plant |
| Serial | 12 to 17 | Production sequence number of this vehicle |
On the driver's side, visible through the windshield.
On a sticker on the door frame or the edge of the door.
Printed in the vehicle registration or title.
Stamped on the firewall or the frame on many models.
A VIN is built from six parts, and each one says something about the vehicle. Our guides explain how to read it and what it can and cannot tell you.

It is usually visible at the base of the windscreen or on a sticker at the door pillar, and it is printed on the registration documents. Compare the characters in all places and check that they match.
The first three characters are the WMI, which identifies the manufacturer. We have no WMI codes mapped to Felino yet, so we cannot name specific ones here. That says nothing about whether a particular VIN is genuine.
Look at the tenth character. For the model years in our data, G means 2016, H 2017, J 2018, K 2019 and L 2020. A VIN of a cB7 with a J in that position points to model year 2018.
It reads only the VIN itself, so it gives the manufacturer, model year and country of manufacture. Accidents, mileage, theft and owners are not stored in a VIN.
Start by decoding the VIN and checking that the model year matches what the seller says. Then make sure the VIN on the car, in the documents and in the advert is identical, and look at the car in person or have it inspected.
