This page decodes the 17-character VIN of an Elaris. Enter it and you get the manufacturer, the model year and the country of manufacture, free and without registration. Our data for the brand covers six models (Beo, Dyo, Finn, Jaco, Leo and Pio), in SUV, Hatchback and Sedan body styles, from model year 2021 to the present.
A VIN does not record accidents, mileage, theft or previous owners, so the decoder cannot show them. That information comes from a paid vehicle history report.
Every VIN has 17 characters, and the letters I, O and Q are never used, so they cannot be mistaken for 1 and 0. The first three characters are the WMI, which identifies the manufacturer and the country of manufacture. We do not yet have any WMI codes mapped to Elaris, so we cannot list any here. Our list is still growing, and it says nothing about any particular VIN.
The tenth character gives the model year. Our Elaris version data starts in 2021, which is the letter M. A 2022 car carries N, a 2023 car P, a 2024 car R and a 2025 car S. If a tenth character is 2026 (T) or later, that fits a model that is still being built.
Characters 4 to 8 describe the vehicle, and character 9 is a check digit. North America requires it, while many European VINs fill that position differently. Character 11 marks the plant, and characters 12 to 17 are the serial number.
Every VIN has six parts. This is what each of them means.
| Part | Characters | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| WMI | 1 to 3 | World manufacturer identifier: who built the vehicle and where |
| VDS | 4 to 8 | Vehicle descriptor: model, body type and engine, as set by the manufacturer |
| Check digit | 9 | Control value that helps confirm the VIN is valid |
| Model year | 10 | Code for the model year |
| Plant | 11 | Code for the assembly plant |
| Serial | 12 to 17 | Production sequence number of this vehicle |

Stamped on the firewall or the frame on many models.
A VIN is built from six parts, and each one says something about the vehicle. Our guides explain how to read it and what it can and cannot tell you.

On most cars it is printed at the base of the windscreen on the driver side and on a plate or sticker in the door frame. It is also written in the registration documents. Compare the number on the car with the one on the papers.
The first three characters are the WMI, which names the manufacturer and the country. We have no WMI codes on record for Elaris at the moment, so this page cannot give you a prefix to look for.
Look at the tenth character. M means 2021, N means 2022, P means 2023, R means 2024 and S means 2025. Our version data for Elaris begins with model year 2021.
It reads only the VIN itself, so it gives the manufacturer, model year and country of manufacture. Accidents, mileage, theft and owners are not stored in the VIN.
Make sure the VIN on the car matches the registration documents character for character. Ask to see service records, and have the car inspected in person. Check that the model year from the tenth character fits the age the seller gives.
