Enter a 17-character VIN and the Czinger decoder reads what is encoded in it: the manufacturer, the model year and the country of manufacture. Our data for the brand is small. It covers one model, the 21C, and model year 2020.
The decoder reads only the VIN, so it says nothing about accidents, mileage, theft or previous owners. That information comes from a paid vehicle history report. The decoder itself is free and needs no registration.

A VIN has 17 characters, and the letters I, O and Q are never used. The first three characters are the WMI, which identifies the manufacturer. We currently have no WMI codes mapped to Czinger, so there is no code to list here and no country we can tie to the brand. Our list is not complete, so a VIN that starts with other characters is not a reason for concern.
Characters 4 to 8 are the descriptor section, and character 9 is a check digit. The check digit is required in North America, while many European VINs fill that position differently. The 10th character is the model year. For a 2020 model year, which is the one year in our Czinger data, the letter is L. Character 11 stands for the plant, and characters 12 to 17 are the serial number.
Every VIN has six parts. This is what each of them means.
| Part | Characters | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| WMI | 1 to 3 | World manufacturer identifier: who built the vehicle and where |
| VDS | 4 to 8 | Vehicle descriptor: model, body type and engine, as set by the manufacturer |
| Check digit | 9 | Control value that helps confirm the VIN is valid |
| Model year | 10 | Code for the model year |
| Plant | 11 | Code for the assembly plant |
| Serial | 12 to 17 | Production sequence number of this vehicle |
On the driver's side, visible through the windshield.
On a sticker on the door frame or the edge of the door.
Printed in the vehicle registration or title.
Stamped on the firewall or the frame on many models.
A VIN is built from six parts, and each one says something about the vehicle. Our guides explain how to read it and what it can and cannot tell you.

Look at the car's registration or ownership documents first, then compare the number with the one on the car itself. The VIN is normally shown on a plate or label on the vehicle, and it always has 17 characters.
The first three characters are the WMI, the manufacturer code. We have no WMI codes mapped to Czinger at the moment, so the decoder cannot match this brand by those characters. Our list is incomplete, which does not make any VIN wrong.
Read the 10th character. A 2020 model year, the only year in our Czinger data, is shown by the letter L. The 21C is the one model in our data for the brand.
It does not show accidents, mileage, theft records or the number of owners, because none of that is stored in the VIN. We also have no data on body style or power for this brand.
Make sure the VIN in the documents matches the one on the car, has 17 characters and contains no I, O or Q. Check that the 10th character fits the stated model year. Ask the seller for the car's documented history as well, since the VIN alone cannot confirm it.
