Enter a 17-character VIN and the HistoVIN decoder reads what is built into it: the manufacturer, the model year and the country of manufacture. For Bordrin, our data lists one model, the iV6, with the SUV body style and model year 2019. The decoder is free and needs no registration.
A VIN does not contain accidents, mileage, theft records or previous owners. That information comes from a paid vehicle history report.

Every VIN has 17 characters and uses no letters I, O or Q, so they are not confused with 1 and 0. The first three characters are the WMI, which identifies the manufacturer and the country. We have no WMI codes on file for Bordrin at the moment, so we cannot give you a code to look for. Our list is not complete, and a Bordrin VIN that starts with other characters is not a problem in itself.
Characters 4 to 8 describe the vehicle, and character 9 is a check digit. North American VINs must use it, while many European ones fill it differently. Character 10 is the model year. Our version data for Bordrin covers only 2019, which is written as the letter K, so a Bordrin iV6 from that year should show K in tenth position.
Character 11 marks the plant, and characters 12 to 17 are the serial number. These last six give each car its own identity, which is why they matter when you compare the VIN on the car with the one in the paperwork.
Every VIN has six parts. This is what each of them means.
| Part | Characters | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| WMI | 1 to 3 | World manufacturer identifier: who built the vehicle and where |
| VDS | 4 to 8 | Vehicle descriptor: model, body type and engine, as set by the manufacturer |
| Check digit | 9 | Control value that helps confirm the VIN is valid |
| Model year | 10 | Code for the model year |
| Plant | 11 | Code for the assembly plant |
| Serial | 12 to 17 | Production sequence number of this vehicle |
On the driver's side, visible through the windshield.

A VIN is built from six parts, and each one says something about the vehicle. Our guides explain how to read it and what it can and cannot tell you.

The VIN is usually printed on a plate at the base of the windscreen on the driver's side, and it also appears in the registration papers. Many cars carry it on a sticker in the door frame too, so check that the numbers match.
The first three characters are the WMI, which tells you the manufacturer and the country of manufacture. We have no WMI codes mapped to Bordrin yet, so the decoder may not recognise the brand from those characters alone.
Look at the 10th character. Our Bordrin data covers model year 2019, which appears as the letter K. For the iV6, a K in that position fits the data we have.
It cannot show accidents, mileage, theft status or the number of owners, because none of that is stored in the VIN. It also gives no power figure for the iV6, since we have none in our data.
Compare the VIN on the car with the VIN in the papers and make sure all 17 characters agree. Then check that the model year character and the body style match what the seller tells you.
