This free Arcfox VIN decoder reads the 17 characters of a VIN and tells you the manufacturer, the model year and the country of manufacture. No registration is needed. Our data includes four Arcfox models, for example Alpha-S, Alpha-T, ECF and GT, with version data for model years 2019 to 2021 and the body styles SUV and Roadster.
The decoder only works from the VIN itself, so it cannot tell you about accidents, mileage, theft or previous owners. That information comes from a paid vehicle history report.
Every VIN has 17 characters, and the letters I, O and Q are never used. The first three characters are the WMI, which identifies the manufacturer and the country. For Arcfox we currently have no WMI codes mapped, so we cannot name a prefix or a country for the brand here. Our list is not complete, and that says nothing about any particular VIN.
Characters 4 to 8 describe the vehicle, and character 9 is a check digit. North American VINs require it, while many European VINs fill it differently. Character 10 is the model year, and our Arcfox data covers 2019 to 2021. In those years the letters are K for 2019, L for 2020 and M for 2021.
Character 11 usually points to the plant, and characters 12 to 17 are the serial number. VINs in this 17-character form exist for cars built since 1981.
Every VIN has six parts. This is what each of them means.
| Part | Characters | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| WMI | 1 to 3 | World manufacturer identifier: who built the vehicle and where |
| VDS | 4 to 8 | Vehicle descriptor: model, body type and engine, as set by the manufacturer |
| Check digit | 9 | Control value that helps confirm the VIN is valid |
| Model year | 10 | Code for the model year |
| Plant | 11 | Code for the assembly plant |
| Serial | 12 to 17 | Production sequence number of this vehicle |
On the driver's side, visible through the windshield.
On a sticker on the door frame or the edge of the door.
Printed in the vehicle registration or title.
Stamped on the firewall or the frame on many models.
A VIN is built from six parts, and each one says something about the vehicle. Our guides explain how to read it and what it can and cannot tell you.

It is usually on a plate at the base of the windscreen on the driver's side and in the registration papers. Copy all 17 characters exactly, and remember that I, O and Q do not appear in a VIN.
The first three characters are the WMI, which stands for the manufacturer and the country. We have no WMI codes mapped to Arcfox at the moment, so the decoder cannot match a prefix to the brand from our list. A VIN starting with other characters is not a problem in itself.
Look at the 10th character. For the years in our Arcfox data, K means 2019, L means 2020 and M means 2021.
It cannot show accidents, mileage, theft records or the number of owners. None of that is stored in the VIN.
Compare the VIN on the car with the one in the papers and make sure all 17 characters match. Then check that the 10th character fits the model year the seller states, and ask for the service and ownership records.
