Enter the 17-character VIN of an Appollen and the decoder reads the manufacturer, the model year and the country of manufacture from it. Our data currently covers three Appollen models, A1, A2 and S1, with model years from 2022 to the present, since some of them are still built. The Hatchback is the only body style in our data. The decoder is free and needs no registration.
A VIN does not record accidents, mileage, theft or previous owners. That information comes from a paid vehicle history report.
Every VIN has 17 characters, and the letters I, O and Q are never used. The first three characters are the WMI, which identifies the manufacturer. We do not yet have any WMI codes on file for Appollen, so we cannot list a code or country of manufacture here. Our list is not complete, and that says nothing about any particular VIN.
Characters 4 to 8 describe the vehicle, and character 9 is a check digit. North American VINs are required to use it, while many European VINs fill it differently. Character 10 is the model year. For Appollen models in our data, N means 2022, P means 2023, R means 2024, S means 2025 and T means 2026. Character 11 is the plant, and characters 12 to 17 are the serial number.
Every VIN has six parts. This is what each of them means.
| Part | Characters | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| WMI | 1 to 3 | World manufacturer identifier: who built the vehicle and where |
| VDS | 4 to 8 | Vehicle descriptor: model, body type and engine, as set by the manufacturer |
| Check digit | 9 | Control value that helps confirm the VIN is valid |
| Model year | 10 | Code for the model year |
| Plant | 11 | Code for the assembly plant |
| Serial | 12 to 17 | Production sequence number of this vehicle |
On the driver's side, visible through the windshield.
On a sticker on the door frame or the edge of the door.
Printed in the vehicle registration or title.
Stamped on the firewall or the frame on many models.
A VIN is built from six parts, and each one says something about the vehicle. Our guides explain how to read it and what it can and cannot tell you.
Enter the 17-character VIN and see the factory basics in seconds.
Look at the vehicle registration document first, where the VIN is printed in full. On the car itself it is usually on a plate or stamping, often visible at the base of the windscreen or on the door frame.
The first three characters are the WMI, which tells you who made the vehicle. We have no WMI codes mapped to Appollen at the moment, so the decoder cannot name a country from them for this brand.
Read the 10th character. For the model years in our Appollen data, N is 2022, P is 2023, R is 2024, S is 2025 and T is 2026. The decoder shows the year for you once you enter the VIN.
It cannot show accidents, mileage, theft records or the number of owners, because none of that is stored in the VIN. The decoder only reads the characters of the number itself.
Make sure the VIN on the car, in the paperwork and in the advert is identical, and that the decoded model year fits what the seller describes. Ask for service records and inspect the car in person.
